Situations where the little old lady needing help turns out to be a setup are rare. They make the news precisely because they are rare. We shouldn't be too afraid to help our neighbors (using a little reasonable caution) because once in a while it doesn't work out well for us.
I didn't realize how many folks actually refuse to help others because of fear of a setup. Chances are that person actually needs just a few minutes of your time to make a big difference in their day. Stop and help, you will be glad you did - and so will the other person.

If I am alone (no kids or wife in the car with me) I will stop to help. I would want someone to stop and help my family member if they were in that kind of situation.
However, if I have someone with me that I care for, I will not stop because of the immediate risk to them if something happens to me.
