They need to start with enforcing the current laws before creating new laws that they won't enforce. Once that's tightened up, then they can add provisions to keep people who have pleased not guilty by reason of insanity or who have been judged incompetent to stand trial from buying guns - and enforce it. I'd like to see the dismantling of so-called gun-free zones after that, but I don't believe that will ever get much traction.
