WRONG. The bikers are the only ones in the video that appear to be egging everyone on. This is not road rage, which implies guilt in all parties (as Charles had mentioned before in another thread). This is assault and battery on the RR who attempted to escape an attack on his vehicle.
A piece of mirrored glass is hardly worth rear ending people and running over motorcycles and perhaps people as well.
Are you implying that the RR driver caused the rear-ending? From what I see, the biker intentionally caused the contract by deliberately slowing his bike directly in front of the RR.

Re: Disparity of force

My sarcasm meter may need calibrating, but I sincerely hope DrJoker was simply administering a dose of sarcastic jest in the above post. If not, oh dear Lord, help us all.

Re: Disparity of force

The RR wasn't trying to hurt anyone by going around them.
:totap:

Another assumption, folks. From the video, there is no way to tell if he tried passing the bikes. In fact, the video shows the exact opposite... the bikes crowd the vehicle.

Re: Disparity of force

He got irritated that the bikers were obstructing traffic and tried to move thru the crowd when he could of just backed off. Instead he wasn't going to be bullied and ended up beaten in front of his wife and child.
Is that really what you got from the video? :headscratch While I have yet to hear any evidence, the video appears to show bikes in dangerously-close proximity to the RR through no fault of his own. No options but to maintain steady speed. .. speed up, brake, move left or right, and he'll hit a biker. The only instigator I witnessed was a biker that intentionally slowed his bike in order to make contact with the front bumper of the RR, similar to what you see in insurance fraud cases, except here, it was the biker trying to be Mr tough guy show off. I have a feeling that fleeing for safety was the best option, because I bet the same assault and battery would have occurred had he remained stopped in the middle of those bikers.

Re: Disparity of force

He then comes real close and starts kicking my car (while we are going 65mph).
:mad5 :mad5 :mad5

I remember reading in the article that most of the bikes did not have license plates visible, if any. That's one thing I always notice on bikes in Houston, especially on sport bikes. We all know that motorcycle vs cop car is a 90% win for bikers. So, in a criminal situation like what you went through, you have practically no legal recourse other than restraint. You're a better person than I, because I would have bumped them off the road if they started kicking my vehicle.

Re: Disparity of force

I also applaud the Range Rover's actions up until it got stuck in traffic. As HotLead said above, the moment he stopped, he was at a major disadvantage.

I would have been on the phone with the cops explaining I will defend myself as needed *hint hint... get here quick* Nothing gets marked cars moving faster than a dispatcher reporting gunshots heard over the phone.

Mobs have zero reasoning, which is exactly why I keep a loaded AR with several magazines ready, as well as a 'go-bag.'

Most biker mobs across the nation (not all) clearly try to intimidate other drivers on the road. I pray that the driver recovers quickly, and that he invests in proper defense :fire for his family soon. I also hope that the bikers involved get criminal charges.
