Re: CSGV Continues Attack on PC Sec. 30.06

There is this weird progressive thing now that social media has made so much worse where being offended is a sign of virtue. The better person you are the more outraged and miserable you are all of the time. That is a bizarre way to go through life but it fits perfectly with fallacious syllogism: “Those mean libertarians and republicans” they suppose “wanting places to have to post the exact sign cited by law to prevent them from carrying a pistol, therefore they must want to murder children.” If this were truly the case there would be a reason to be outraged. But instead there are differing where and why to carry a pistol.

The same fallacious syllogism is used in nearly every liberal argument, if you oppose minimum wage increases they believe you want the poor to live in filth and die, not that you believe the minimum wage prices low skilled workers out of employment and makes more people poor. If you oppose taxes on the "wealthy" (high income earners actually, not wealth) than you believe the rich should get richer and poor should get poorer, not that you believe the free market is a better mode to rise people out of poverty than government programs. The list goes on, but if you demonize your opponent instead of discuss the issues and proposed solutions, you cannot be outraged, holier than your opponent, hold the high ground, moral posture, and be generally superior to your opponent.

My sister and her partner use this tactic all the time and are outraged all the time. I call them out on it but it does no good. Now I just say, "Sisters of perpetual aggrievance" and go on.
