While I agree the VFW on a Sunday morning isn't a dumb place and time, it only takes one of the three (people, place, activity) to get into truble. Unfortunately, it's difficult to predict what will attract thugs or lunatics. In this case it seems to have been fighting over the name "Warlocks." I guess trademark law was too complicated for them.
BTW, gang names and colors are dangerous territory. I vaguely remember an incident where some kids in the Chicago area were calling themselves 26, which is the name of a vicious Mexican gang. The actual gang members became annoyed with "unauthorized" graffiti and administered some street justice.
