Re: military surplus 7.62
So, a related question: Can a dirty gun cause the primers to pop out of the round and foul the action? (Assuming that the gun is chambered for 5.56 and you are shooting 5.56.) You will be helping to settle an argument... Thanks! I can't see how - the symptom of primers backing out is typically caus...

Re: military surplus 7.62
Yes - that page mostly lists milsurp 7.62x51 NATO along with some commercial .308 Now, seeing as you asked the question, if I were you I would google ".308 vs 7.62" and do some reading, but the generic, rule-of-thumb answer is 7.62 NATO is slightly hotter than commercial .308 I don't like...

Re: Email from DPS to instructors
They have no way of knowing who already has NRA certs. We've never reported it before. Actually, they may. I took the shorter (one day less) class they offered as I was already a certified instructor. They would know who took that class. However, they need to see that your certification is still cu...

Re: First 4 hour class
We also did a class. It was a little nerve wracking for me, as I was constantly watching the clock. But, the students seemed to be fine with it. Classroom was 1:00 to 6:00, then off to the range. Same with my class. No problems, but I felt like I was talking a mile a minute to keep it on track!

What if you make a res before 9/1 for a stay after 9/1?
Will be interesting to see if they give you notice at check-in, and what kind of notice.

Re: Hotel firearms policy (HB 333)
the verbage does not meet Texas Law 30.06, so you (a CHL) have not been given proper notification. I would either carry away or switch hotels (they wont care by the way for your leaving them) I guess that was my question: Does it have to still meet the requirements for 30.06? Logic says it would, b...

Hotel firearms policy (HB 333)
So, in preparation for my class tomorrow, I was looking at a couple of hotel websites to see if/how they have posted their firearms policies. The website for Hilton hotels has this wording: "Firearms Policy Carrying a weapon on these premises is prohibited and violators may be subject to arrest...

Re: Question regarding September 1
I also have one scheduled for the 1st. I'm just hoping they put something out soon. Need a couple of days to possibly change course material around and understand the new legislation.
Doesn't seem like there have been many law changes other than the class length and renewal stuff though.

Re: Bang! Bang! I'm dead! :-)))
Not surprised, but glad you are ok. I have noticed that with very few exceptions, when a customer is looking at a gun, their finger goes straight into the trigger guard and onto the trigger. Most are at least aware enough not to point the gun at someone, but there are (obviously) some that just don'...
