It would seem Mr. Gius is an ethical, empirical thinker. From this article, he is a Democrat educator in Connecticut, was unpaid for his post Newtown study, yet had the integrity to search for honest data. Even then, he is forthcoming that his research is neither exhaustive nor conclusive.
“I’m saying in my paper we need more research in this area,” Gius said. “Mine isn’t the first study on this topic. There are three or four that found that really restrictive laws either reduced the murder rate or had no effect on the rate. And then there are ... three or four that found the opposite, like mine.”
One of the arguments I always go to when talking to a gun rights advocate is if they are going to poke holes in John Lott, fine. But show me any real statistics that even suggest more guns equal more crime. For example, one might be able to attribute the crack epidemic, suggesting why crime is lower with or without guns, but with the number of CHL and "assault" weapons on the streets today (more than any other time since gun control started), violent crime should be through the roof.

Year after year, this is proven not the case. It seems that Mr. Gius has figured that out. Kudos to him and honest people who search for truth above their own prejudices.
