Moving from a full size to a glock to a full size glock is not really a gun change, it is a caliber change. The perceived recoil on the G21SF is much less violent than almost any other pistol in that offering. It is a proven model with lots of LE buy in and high round count stories, the g4 models are getting there, but still kind of protype-ish in my mind based.
And if I may, allow to frame these comments in the light of me never really being a Glock "guy" per se. I've always liked 1911s much better, but I have been converted largely due to hours of training and thousands of rounds through this gun.
I find it is much better balanced with a light.
I too want a G17, but I want it for shooting competitions.
Thank your for this post. Now that I think back of watching the G21 torture tests and how much I really trust that gun on my night stand with a TLR-1 I would probably regret getting rid of it. I think I'll try and find another way to acquire a 17.
As far as extractor issues go my 19 is a gen 3 With a test fire date of 05/06/11. I purchased I Brand new from Academy and the only issue I had had out of it was a magazine issue with a cheap 33 rounder. I would guess on 2k rounds through it by now. I love that gun for sure. My girlfriend likes I also and is ready to permanently "borrow" it.
* On a side note, maybe Ill sell some of my benchmades
