soonerbldr wrote:I am going to second White Hat. I got a cowhide holster from them and it is sweet. Nice and supple like it is already broken in. I plan on ordering another one from them as soon as I get my new safe and my Glock 30! I would like to get a Crossbreed but you can get as good a product from White Hat in about 1/3 the time. I will still order one from Cross Breed just to support them but I think all m future purchases will be White Hat.

Don't know - never seen a Crossbreed up close and in real life. But, I can compare to my Comp-Tac MTAC. MTAC has a leather backing that prevents the back end of the T-nuts from touching skin, and White Hat does not. The White Hat T-nuts are smaller profile than the MTAC ones, so it's not like they're poking you in the ribs. For the extra money the MTAC costs, I don't miss the backing - and the White Hat is my usual EDC holster.
Awesome I have 2 weeks to decide which one I want to purchase, then another 4-6 before I recieve it in the mail LOL.

Re: Horse hide.

The Tommy Theis holsters look almost identical to crossbreed holsters, I may go ahead and order from him, i looked at his FAQ's but couldnt find a ETA maybe i over looked it but I really like his holsters and their look.

Re: Horse hide.

Thanks guys y'all rock! my dad got a Gen 4 G19 yesterday and he has a Gould and Goodrich IWB Gold line holster with snaps in chestnut leather, but even I'm having a hard time concealing it without some of the grip coming through and I also feel like it rides a little high, and falls forward a little, would a proper gun belt fix/help the probelm? I carry a 1911 in a cheap little size 6 blackhawk microfiber holster and you cant even tell I'm wearing it, but the beavertail safty digs into my side thats the reason I want a crossbreed or something equal to it, so I will for sure check out Tommy theis.

lightbulb1988 wrote:You should really look into White Hat holsters. I have the Max Tuck from them, its just like crossbreed's supertuck but if you have multiple guns you want to carry you just have to order another kydex (not another complete holster) and interchange the kydex on your cow or horse hide backing. I love my max tuck. I was torn between the two companies, but the interchangeable kydex and slightly lower price sold me on White Hat. Check them out!

Re: Horse hide.

Wow thanks for all the help fellas i really appreciate it, the one thing i really like about the crossbreed is the fact that it covers the beavertail on a 1911 which is what i carry, and it keeps the beaver tail from digging into ones side. but crossbreed is the only maker i have seen to offer that style of holster, all the others look to be combat cut.

Horse hide.

Does anyone know of another company that uses horse hide in their holster making?
