Re: Houston Museum of Natural Science
I was at the HMNS this past Monday, and saw the small signs on the door. I only saw them from the inside, as I entered through the garage like others have mentioned. Once home, I double checked the 30.06 board, and saw one of the commenters mentioning that a museum, zoo, etc. can register as an educ...

Re: PTA-sponsored activity
If I was to show up at a business that happened to be hosting a PTA fundraiser, I would not head back to my car to disarm. It is not school premises, or a UIL event.

Re: Cowboys Stadium NONSPORTING event
On a related note, I went to a concert at the American Airlines Center, and noted the gun busters signs on the doors. Was reaching for my ID when I saw the guys with the metal detectors. I guess my wife and I looked trustworthy, because we got waived on past the security screening. :woohoo I wasn't ...

My parents have been customers of Chappell Hill for almost 50 years. Most of that time had been with an out of town address.Bitterclinger wrote:I wonder if they'll let me open an out-of-town account. I now have an overwhelming desire to do business with Chapel Hill Bank.

Good, Bad, and Other
Good news - I start a new job Monday.
Bad news - they're posted 30.06
Oh well. Beats unemployment. And my wife will be happy to have me out of the house.

Re: Shall not be infringed
It's ironic that the gubmint (in my case the FDA) likes to remind us that "shall = must" when it suits their needs.

Tooling marks. If this was wear, you'd find corresponding wear on the slide. I'm surprised this was passed by a QC group.

Just called and upgraded my annual membership to lifetime, plus signed the wife up as a life member. Also joined TSRA as life members. Call it a late Christmas present to ourselves.

Re: CC at church withprivate school
(2) "School" means a private or public elementary or secondary school. I think this does define school as being K-12. In the case of my church, they have a preschool that my youngest attends. I have never disarmed prior to entering, since it is not an elementary school. If they add a kind...

Re: CC at church withprivate school
Does "school" only apply to K-12, or does it also apply to preschool (2-4 year olds)?

Re: M&P Shield vs. Walther PPS
I gave her the Shield for Mother's Day. She loves it. Which is a good thing, since she hates shooting my revolvers. It handles like a compact 9. Mild recoil with 115 gr, a bit snappier with 124. She prefers the 8 round magazine over the 7, simply because she like to have all of her fingers on the gr...

Re: Smith & Wesson M&P Shield
As the others said, the Shield is too big for pocket carry. My wife has one and really likes it. We both find it very instinctive - a true point and shoot.
While I liked the PPS, my wife did not. The finger grooves weren't right for her.

Re: M&P Shield vs. Walther PPS
We ended up with the Shield, as my wife did not like the finger grooves on the PPS.
As for how the Shield feels in the hand, it's very similar to the M&P Compact or the Taurus PT111. Those two are slightly wider (~3/8").
