Excel form for LTC-8 and LTC-100
A few years ago, I uploaded a program from this forum that was set up where you could fill out multiple students' information (name, DL #, etc )and it would fill out and generate CHL-8's and CHL-100's for you. It was formatted so the finished forms looked exactly like the DPS forms. Since the forms ...

Speed of processing update
Held a class on December 13th. Two of the students got printed on December 16th. Received their licenses today (January 10th). Awesome turnaround time, especially over the holidays! Reading some of the forums posts from "The Waiting Room" section, seems the average turnaround is about 4 we...

Re: What Now?
How about the lengthy wait on a new, updated CHL-16 with the new legislation? (and yes, I know it's the legal department's fault).

Re: Jan 14 thru 17 Class
I took the instructor class in June. A week after I returned, my status still said "in progress" and I was holding my instructor certificate. So don't worry about what the online status says. They will email you with an invitation to a class with the dates listed. Sometimes, it may only be...

Re: Range Rental - North Fort Worth ??
I'm certainly not rich, but I would consider contributing to an instructor shooting range. I'm in Waxahachie and I'm having a heck of a time finding a place to qualify students.

Re: Update Notification on Test & CHL100
Wow....giving the test orally as a group test? How does that assess that each individual person understands the material and scores a 70%? I'm thinking that's not acceptable.

Re: Question regarding September 1
The written test would have to be changed. The new laws make several questions on the "old" test moot or just flat out incorrect.

Re: DPS forms and reloads
Regarding ammo.....the only limitation is what you or the range you use requires. Nothing in the administrative code about it. While some instructors I've seen require SAAMI ammo like DPS, most just require manufactured ammo and no reloads.

As mentioned above by sjfcontrol, the DPS posted the change in using DL photos instead of passport photos on June 18th on the Instructor Update site.

Re: 2 months from 21 years old.
We were told in class that they could actually take the class two years before they turned 21, since the CHL-100 is good for two years. From a logistical standpoint, they told us it couldn't be ON their 19th birthday because you can't do the online application until the day after your 21st birthday ...

Re: Instructor Background Check - Long Wait?
I got all of my paperwork sent to DPS (NRA instructor, CHL-90...the new one, etc) the 2nd or 3rd week of March. I just attended the June instructor class. I had previously done the online instructor application, fingerprints and old CHL-90 the first week of January, but I believe it was "on hol...
