Oh, and turtles are omnivores. They will eat basically what is available whether it be plants, insects, fish, or fish eggs, etc.. You can buy a license and hunt for turtles, where allowed, legally. And since man is basically killing all the little creatures with pollution the turtles have less to eat and are starving to death. By you shooting these turtles you are actually helping them and the environment. You're a saint. Use buckshot. I still recommend the stew/soup.

Grammaw used to make an awesome turtle stew. Not many predators to keep them in check so an afternoon of plunking won't disrupt the circle of life. IMO
