Re: FL Mental Health Bill
I appreciate your candid responses. I came here because of the liberties and freedoms that were bestowed upon gaining my Citizenship. I enjoy a good debate and one without emotion or name calling. I have given this law a great deal of thought and the responses were at the least thought provoking an...

Re: FL Mental Health Bill
Cprems, then you have to understand that the anti-gunners are looking for a foothold. If they get an inch, they will use that as argument to take a mile. We have to stand on the principles that founded this country. 'common sense gun laws' are anti-gunner speak for tyranny of the majority. The Const...

Re: FL Mental Health Bill
If Lanza was committed - this would not have happened. This is not about purchasing weapons. I am well aware of what transpired in his case. Beeker could have been involuntarily committed. he should have been reported. How did the perpetrator get his hands on a banned AR? I believe it would have st...

Re: FL Mental Health Bill
I believe this law is needed to close current loopholes in the Baker Act. Is it a slippery slope? Maybe, but if the NRA is backing this bill, it would seem on the face of it that the protections are in the bill (as it is written) If this law was in effect in CT & CO, those shootings may, and I ...

Re: FL Mental Health Bill
Actually I do get it. If you are diagnosed as a danger to others, there should be a well articulated reason (as under this law) It also has to be signed off by a Judge. It can be appealed. So what is your suggestion and treatment modality? Let those with PTSD who are suffering, suffer? I suppose my...

"Hammer said after a person with mental illness is treated, they’ll be able to petition the court to get their gun rights back. “They will not be able to purchase a gun until they have been treated, and a psychiatrist says they need relief from disability,” said Hammer." The problem here i...

Re: Census - "American Community Survey"
A full census (the every decade one); they'd send their little 'Obama for America' trolls around. Being a random sampling, I'd tear it up. Think about it. 1. It's selected you at random. 2. Not everyone gets it. If the answers are sooo important, they'd send it to everybody. Otherwise, they are just...

Re: NSA collecting phone records of millions of Americans da
The data being collected includes which phone numbers are dialing and receiving each call, the time of day when each call is made, how long it lasts and other identifying information, but not the content of the calls themselves. Yeah right! It doesn't matter if they listen to the content. The priva...

Re: Soon to be - Felony if You Annoy the Police in NY
The worst time I got spit on it was a loogie right on the eyeball from a guy handcuffed (so I couldn't really fight with him). Debate the charges all you want but he went for everything we had, including jaywalking, and walking with traffic, in addition to all the more serious charges. For those as...

Re: Soon to be - Felony if You Annoy the Police in NY
Harassment of a public servant in tx is a felony 3. Example would be spitting on a police officer. Spitting can carry many a nasty germs so that I can understand being a crime, but not a felony unless maybe disease is present. How do they define harassment? Go have some suspect spit in your face an...

Re: Soon to be - Felony if You Annoy the Police in NY
Two things. 1. No group should have a special set of rights over that of other citizens. As such, this disgusts me. By the way, aren't LEOs servants of the citizens, and if so, why are the citizens treated like subjects? 2. I cannot imagine this wouldn't be struck down as unconstitutional. I will gu...

Re: What if?
There may be remedies, but we are essentially at the mercy of the search engine owner. While Google and Bing might take up such 'lofty' initiatives in an effort to appease some groups, I think an open source search engine (Does Mozilla Firefox have its own search capability?) would be less likely to...

Texas does not count write-in candidates, so your write-in would have been counted as a non vote.fickman wrote:I voted for McCain in '08 only because Chuck Baldwin wasn't on our ballot and I was too uninspired to write him in.
