Re: How to tell the age of ammo and does it matter?
... Does it matter how old it is really? If it doesn't look odd or set-back or such, then does the age cause any safety concerns? I have seen old ammo shoot just fine, but I have also seen a bullet dribble out of the barrel and hit the ground a few feet away. It seems that old ammo is unlikely to b...

Re: Fiocchi Ammo Return
...Regarding the issue on my original post; the Fiocchi rounds would have passed a case gauge test, but the bullets were not seated deep enough. I would have needed to measure the COL. Perhaps I should begin sampling factory ammo. Spot checking could miss bad rounds. Removing the barrel and ensurin...

Re: Prescription shooting bifocals
I am looking for a optical lens lab that will make bifocal shooting glasses that have the "reader" portion at the top of the lens. Have you tried your local optical lab? In 1995 I took my prescription to the shop in our local Wal-Mart. They made them and even tinted the lenses yellow. My ...

Re: Case Gauge .223?
I use a Wilson case gauge to set up the full length sizing die on my single stage press and then to check each case after the full length sizing step. This way if a case is not sized enough, it can be corrected immediately, before it becomes a defective finished bullet. At the same time, I can deter...

Re: Gunsmith in DFW area?
I went through a similar situation with my High Power (50,000 serial number range) in 1995. It failed to eject frequently with factory UMC and Winchester white box ammo. Long story short, after a local gun smith replaced the extractor, it was better, but it still fails to eject 2 or 3 times out of 5...

Re: Strange factory ammo failure - it could have been bad.
Suppose that bullet had been used in a training or testing situation. You may not have even noticed it. The bullet was certainly defective, but, it likely would have fired, if it had not been ejected.

Re: Apply before or after class?
by mloamiller » Sat Feb 20, 2016 12:50 pm I recently received my instructor's certificate, but haven't taught my first class yet. A potential student made a comment to me that she thought you were required to submit the LTC application online before attending the class. I didn't think it mattered -...

Take a look at this web site: https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/how-to ... mmunition/
The "Lyman Reloading Handbook" is a good one to have. There is a chapter on The Basics of Reloading in addition to lots of reloading data.
