Unless you're in a coma, the last thing hospitals are made for is sleeping. I've never understood that. You'd reasonably think that good, restorative sleep would be important to almost any ailment you have. But no. The priority instead seems to be to get blood pressure, heart rate, O2 saturation, and temperature every two hours like clockwork. It's a pervasive, system-wide study about the effects of sleep deprivation on physical recovery.
