I guess it's back to the drawing board as far as training goes.
Not the free training co-operative that Bill first mentioned, but there's a pretty good selection of training opportunities in the Greater Houston area.

Houston is home base for Brian Hoffner (http://www.hoffners.com/info.htm), and he usually has a couple dozen separate courses scheduled in Houston each year, not counting his regular practice sessions like Elite Team Pistol. A very good choice in Houston.

Gabe Suarez (http://www.suarezinternational.com/), as Lumberjack98 mentioned, gets to town usually a few times a year. I think the next is November. He and some of his methods are controversial, but he provides some types of training that others don't.

Phil Oxley used to (may still) teach under the company name Texas Small Arms Academy. You can Google that to make sure. Phil owns the Impact Zone on the west side of town, and like PSC this a great private-membership range option where you can practice your own defensive skills.

Professional Defense Solutions International in the Woodlands (http://www.pdtgroup.net/) offers several different firearms training classes as well as unarmed self-defense. Have never used 'em, so can't comment.

Action Target (http://www.actiontarget.com/) holds seminars and classes in Houston. One was just two weeks ago.

Tom Johnson and Global Executive Protection in Conroe (http://www.globalexecutiveprotection.net/training.html) offer a variety of courses, some just a half-day, that include firearms, OC spray, taser, etc.

Guardian Defensive Shooting (guardianshooting@yahoo.com) holds classes at Hot Wells.

And Gregg Garrett hosts applied practice sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday at Top Gun and Shiloh, respectively. John Farnam (http://defense-training.com/courses/index.html)has been holding classes twice a year in Victoria, and Gregg hopes to be able to bring him back to Houston soon (the range they used to use burned down); Gregg is a Farnam instructor.

I'm sure I'm overlooking quite a bit, but these are the ones I know of...and have bookmarked.

Too, Houston has gotta be one of the most active cities in the country for IDPA and IDPA-type shooting. Friday is the only day of the week I know of when there isn't a regularly scheduled shoot...and Tuesday is the only day with only one! Handgun, carbine, three-gun: the options are all there every month.
