Dennis originally bought a little over 200 acres there near Victoria, and it included a waterway of some sort. He excavated and widened the waterway, and used that dirt to build up the impressive berms (I'd guesstimate closer to 20 feet than 15). He saved money on the dirt, and made the waterway more attractive when he sold off all but about 18 acres, that he kept.

He's not only a darned smart guy  , but he's a community figure in Victoria because he lets LEOs use his range at no cost, helps sponsor local LEOs in training classes like Farnam's and Hoffner's, and also lets graduates of certain formal training classes have access to his range. All in all, I think he deserves a big round of applause from all Texas shooters for the work he does.

It may be a little noisy for the immediate neighbors from time to time, but after I thought about it I realized that private road he lives off of is probably the least likely place in the county to see any vandalism or robberies: at any given time, you're likely to have the Sheriff, some of his deputies, some police officers and a couple of SWAT team members, as well as some pretty well-trained civilian independent operators out there. ;-)
