Re: Shiloh in Houston

I'm sitting at my desk, eating lunch and catching up on the news. I'm reading the Houston Chronicle online and an animated advertisement off to the side of the screen catches my eye.

It's an ad for Shiloh! And look, I think I even see a pic of Steve in a modified isosceles goin' after a target hanger! :smilelol5:

It's good to see a range advertising in mainstream media. Good on ya, guys!

Re: Shiloh in Houston

Hm. I think I'll pass on the back-rub, but I need some trigger time and need to run some of the newly-acquired Ranger SXT +P through the primary carry to make sure it's happy. An hour Sunday afternoon at Shiloh sounds like a plan...

Re: Shiloh in Houston

I'm in, but I don't have a suitable grill...nor do you want me trying to do any of the cooking.

But I can contribute raw material, or something like sandwich platters from Sam's.

ShilohShooters wrote:How would everyone feel about having a CHL Forum meet and greet BBQ on a Monday when the range is closed to the public?
I'll be there, and I'll do everything I can to support it.

Maybe a bring-a-dish thing, or a donate-ammo thing where everybody brings a commercial 50-round box to swap.

Besides, I was Jeff's training partner at Farnam's advanced course this month in Victoria, and I'm sure he'd like to beat me up some more. He probably got the biggest laugh out of watching my Bushmaster have an out-of-the-fight double-feed, but that's another story...

Shiloh is a great range, run by great people.

We need to support it every way we can.

Can we nominate Shiloh for some sort of civic award? "Best new asset to the community," or something like that?

We should publicize it here: IDPA-style shooting at Shiloh from 6:00 to 8:00 every Thursday evening.

ShilohShooters wrote:Come on Skiprr, dont get discouraged by a full lot! Pull all the way around the back and there is available space that you cant see from the front of the building.
Heh. Even the around-the-back was full. Only the space in front of the AC was open, and I'd have to be in a Mini-Cooper to fit in that without blocking folks to the rear.

But busy is a good thing. I'm happy about it, Jeff. My problems are purely personal. I can't take my gear to work, so I have to go home first and pick it up before heading over. I confirmed that one Wednesday that two hours ain't enough to do it. The next plan is to try to sneak out by 4:30 once in a while on Wednesdays.

Except now you're tempting me with Thursday's, as well. Hm. Have to leave by 4:00 to make it, but traffic should be lighter getting home. Hm...

What's the Thursday thing? I'm sure others would like details!

Outta curiosity, are there any options for overflow parking? I did try to make it from work to the range for one of Greg's Wednesday shoots, but it was already about two minutes after 7:00 when I got there, and the lot was full (prolly overfull by about one ;-) ), so I just kept moving and moseyed back home.

That time of the evening, can we use the small lot at the building just south of you? If not, any other options? Sure can't park along the side of the street.
