Because there are some people that once you give them an ounce of authority they let it get to their heads.
Take a look at the situation in L.A. (which the news media has dropped coverage of). There were two separate shootings in which L.A. Police opened fire on pickup trucks have some resemblance to the description of the truck used by the shooting suspect without provocation or cause of any kind. In the first event, the two occupants of the pickup were wounded. There condition is not presently available although there were descriptions of the truck being "bullet riddled". In the second event, the occupants of the vehicle were not apparently wounded. Shoot on suspicion has never been the law. These peace officers should be afforded the opportunity to stand before the bar of justice to be held accountable for their actions.
