Yes, I carry 2 extra. Why? When I took a training course I ran out of ammo, dropped the magazine and reloaded and continued the drill. After the drill I looked down and saw the magazine I dropped was half full. Loaded back full and continued with the training, again it happen. Empty the remaining bullet and reloaded with new bullet. For the next day 1/2 I didn't have another failure.

You just don't know when you might need a second magazine.
