Re: Handcuff's

I still have mine left over from when I worked in LE. They stay locked up in my gunsafe. One reason is because I have 5 pair and they aren't cheap. The other reason is because when I as still working and had them on my duty belt people I knew would come over and almost always pull them out and start playing with them. One time I went to check the mailbox when a friend was over. She had handcuffed herself in my absence and could not get out of them. They were very tight and cutting circulation off to her hands (my mail box was down by the apartment office about a 5 min walk one way). ANYway they aren't something to take lightly and unless you have very good training I would not recommend trying to hook someone up with them. If you had enough reason to produce your weapon it means the person was dangerous, your putting yourself at way more risk by trying to cuff them. I've said this before criminals practice how to resist arrest in jail.

Ask yourself this when deciding about cuffs:

- DO you know how to load your cuffs?
- Do you know how to handcuff someone who is too big to touch their hands behind their back?
- Is it acceptable to perform a wall cuffing? As in "Put your hands on the wall."
- Which position is it best to handcuff a known threat?
- What the heck are you going to do when the other person fights you can tucks their hands under their arms?
- Why use hindged cuffs instead of chained?

This is just what I can think of in 3 minutes of typing.... :tiphat:
