Re: Am I Disqualified from CHL in Texas?
From what I know possession of drugs can either be a Class A misdemeanor or A State Jail felony. Like others have said, if its a felony, then you are disqualified. However, a Class A or B misdemeanor only make you disqualified for 5 years. As for the NICS denial, that could be because of the convict...

Private gun loan/rental question
I have a friend of mine who I plan to barrow a semeautomic hand gun for a period of a week. While my friend is willing to lone it, I feel guilty about using it without reimbursing him. My question is when money is exchanged doesn’t it become a rental? I know an FFL is required to do the same paperwo...

Re: Eligibility question
We both found it interesting that the law prohibits people who have come to the realization that they have a problem and have taken steps to remedy that problem, but alcoholics who refuse to admit their problem are still free to get a CHL as long as they haven't been arrested for DUI. After my post...

Yes and no. Yes she is currently illegible to get a CHL based on what you told me. However, she can get it after five years. See following sections . § 411.172. ELIGIBILITY. (a) A person is eligible for a license to carry a concealed handgun if the person: (6) is not a chemically dependent person; §...

Re: CHL but not armed
Last year I actually let my license expire. I've been told you shouldn't carry an expired license so I pulled mine out of my wallet. Six mounts later I got pulled over by Plano, PD for a burnt out break light. The officer took my license and insurance and then came back and asked about my CHL. I exp...

Texas resident at Tulsa Gun show question
In April of this year I decided to make my first trip to the Tulsa Gun show. I had to admit I was blown away by its size. I didn’t come back with any firearms, but my wife was looking at a revolver she liked(mainly because it was pink  ). Let’s say I decided to buy it, its it illegal for me to...

Re: Renewal of Expired License Question
Well I called DPS(spent nearly 30min on hold) and asked them about the status, there wasn’t much that they could tell me. All they said was they have no record of it in their system. I then inquired about what date counted as the official renewal date(ie renew class, online application started, date...

Renewal of Expired License Question
They say you have a year after your license expires to renew. Does DPS have to have all the documentation before your next birthday or does the date you started your application and/or date took the renewal class count? Let say you take the renewal class two months before your next birthday and your...

I don't think it would work. As others have said the more your restrict guns the more criminal get them illegally just like drugs. However, it only people licenses are allowed to buy guns, then we should have over-the-counter gun sales for people with licenses. No additional background checks, No wa...

Are CHL holder’s Scrutinized more than non license holders?
As we all know CHL holders are required to notify an officer in a standard traffic stop that they are packing. However after reading the new newest version of the traveling law I discovered people who are traveling do not. It it me or does this not very fair to the CHL group who are statistically le...
