Re: Just submitted
The amount of times I checked seemed to increase the longer I waited. I started out maybe every other day and ended up checking 7 or 8 times a day at the end. I got so used to checking that I kept checking a few days after it mailed to make sure it still said mailed!

Re: DPS Received 2 weeks ago
The background check is the "real" wait! You would think it would only take a few minutes to read it if you have no background, considering they could have all that pulled up ahead of time. However, the government isn't exactly the most efficient thing in existence.

Re: Cleaning after carry?
A cloth with a little bit of whatever gun oil I happen to have handy. Learned to do that to keep guns from rusting when being lugged through the woods out in the country, but it seems to work well with a concealed carry gun in the city too!

Re: Cleaning after carry?
I kind of spot clean any gun I own anytime it gets very smudged or I see a bit of grime/dust starting to build up. I also am trying to make it a habit to shoot my concealed carry gun at least once a month (after all, I am new to concealed carrying so all of this is a new habit except keeping a clean...

Re: Trying to be patient
Congratulations! The wait for it to come in the mail once it updates to mail is the worst part though. Nothing to check five or six times each day. Hope your plastic shows up quickly!

Re: Normal mailing time....?
The trend seems to be that they are mailed out in batches on Fridays. They should start showing up in the next couple of days...this is probably the worst part of the entire wait! :txflag: I agree! At least when you are on the other steps you can check something! Maybe someone should suggest adding...

Re: Normal mailing time....?
I received mine a bit slower than mail would typically have reached me from Austin. I would suggest waiting a extra couple of days, then check with the office. Hope you get your license very soon!

Re: Fees for CHL classes TOO expensive!
I did my Wally walk today! I just haven't got the detailed report posted yet! :thumbs2: To answer your question, I sure will be carrying in the pulpit. In this crazy time you never know when that might be a wise decision. Most of the men in my church are CHL holders and/or NRA members so they approv...

Re: Fees for CHL classes TOO expensive!
I can see where those who teach classes are coming from. It isn't worthwhile for them to spend their money to help others who probably will not even be grateful. It's well worth the investment anyways to be able to concealed carry! I know I didn't mind making the investment, and I don't exactly make...

Re: OK....who broke the license printer at DPS?
I noticed somewhere, can't find it at the moment, but DPS denied to someone that their printer went down, but there is a post where someone else had the fact that the printer was broken confirmed by them. Odd. :headscratch At any rate, mine finally made it! :fire Anyone else have their license yet? ...
