Re: Bad plan: Carry under MPA, act as CHL, claim ignorance.
I agree with Tom...get a CHL. Hey, you can go to Tom's website and play back the whole show! I love Tom's show and sometimes I'm not available to listen. One of the posts above mine has the link, or you can just Google "gun talk Tom Gresham" and you'll find his site. Look around there...&q...

Re: 17y/o Killed By Neighborhood Watch/CHL
Zimmerman did pursue Martin, but then decided to leave. HE WAS LEAVING...GOING BACK TO HIS TRUCK. Martin could have called 911 and complained about harassment, blown it off, etc., but NO, MARTIN DECIDED TO PURSUE ZIMMERMAN . Now, perhaps Martin thought Zimmerman was still a threat (although Zimmerma...

Re: Trayvon may change Texas's "Castle Doctrine"
Now there's this totally racist hate talk from the New Black Panthers against whites/capitalists. They're calling for spilled blood, an end to capitalism, etc. This is an "organizing phone call" for this. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-TV/2012/04/08/New-Black-Panthers-Call-For-Race-War...

Re: Certified Mail or First Class Postage?
I hope I haven't screwed up but I sent my packet in back on January 27, 2012 using First Class postage instead of Certified mail. I checked the DPS website and it states they are still waiting to receive required documents. Should I be concerned that it got lost or thrown out. Or should I just rela...

Dallas Concealed Carry
I would like to personally recommend Dallas Concealed Carry for all who live in/near Bid D. I attended their CHL class in mid-January - taught by Daniel Harmon. Daniel gave us all a picture of what concealed carry entails, and what the risks are (he's got a great story himself). I'm one totally sati...

Re: Best CHL Classes in NE DFW Area?
I went to Dallas Concealed Carry (dallasconcealedcarry.com) about a week and a half ago. The instructor was Daniel Harmon and I vouch for him. The class is informative and actually exciting. Wait until you hear his story. Before the CHL class, I emailed him and he said the class was "open notes...

Re: Going to Big Bend to camp
Since the weather is nice for camping, I thought about going to Big Bend in a little bit. Can I have a gun in my car in a state park? If I have my CHL can I concealed carry? Am I permitted to open carry a pistol while hiking in the wilderness? What about a rifle? Last time I was there in the late 8...

If you're in the DFW area, I vouch for Dallas Concealed Carry for a CHL class. http://www.dallasconcealedcarry.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The instructor is Daniel Harmon, and the class is great. You won't get bored, believe me...esp. after he tells you his story. Go...

Uh oh...I already sent it in. I had no idea I was supposed to keep it. Anyway, I made copies of everything I sent in...if that makes a difference.

Re: Should I be concerned?
I wouldn't be worried. It can take 3 weeks or more to finally show status. :iagree: Three days in "CHL time" seems like three weeks in real time. ;-) Ha! I know what you mean. I sent in my packet today. Sheesh...my CHL class did the photos...and they didn't match the guidelines. I went to...

CHL Application ID # on L1's FAST form
My L1 fingerprinting FAST form has a "CHL Application ID#" to fill in on top. The problem is, I got three numbers from my CHL application: - Trace # (13 alphanumeric characters...it's the one on the barcode receipt) - ORI number (9 alphanumeric characters) - RegID number (11 alphanumeric c...

Re: CHL exam...can we look at our notes?
The exam is really not that big of a deal. Just read each question carefully before answering. I'd almost be willing to bet that I could have aced it without sitting through the course. Thanks man! I took the test this past Sunday and aced it. He actually gave a summary at the very end of lecture t...

Re: Why online application before CHL class?
Thanks you guys. I'll let you know how things go on Sunday.
My printer is broken, do they give out a copy of the Tx CHL laws? It's over 60 pages or so. I don't think I'll have a printer by then.

Why online application before CHL class?
Hello all,
I've been told that doing the online application before the CHL class speeds up the process. Is there any reason this is true besides getting the background checks kicked off earlier? Does waiting until after the class result in more paperwork, any other hassles??
Thanks,
Robert

Re: CHL exam...can we look at our notes?
Thanks you guys for some valuable feedback. Actually, after my initial post, I emailed the CHL instructor and asked him...and this guy said open notes are OK on the test. Anyway, my mind is already plagued with "what-if's", both legally and morally. Like if someone tries to rob me with a k...
