The things can be replaced and insurance will help with that. What will take a long time is restoring the sense of invasion & violation. She will need her friends to hear what she is really saying.

Our house was burglarized--fortunately they were gone when I got home. I came home and the front door and the door from the garage into the house were standing open. I called my husband from outside and had him on the phone as I walked far enough in the back door to tell that someone had been in the house while my son jumped in his car and headed home. I stood out in the driveway until my son had checked out the house. Whooever it was went right straight to the bedroom--took all my husbands guns and all of his brass, badges and duty belt. Took jewelry and (get this!) my perfumes and his guitar. Walked right past big screen tvs, etc.

All that to say, it takes along time to get over the feeling of not feeling secure in your own house
