Re: Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales
I was giving CTD online the benefit of the doubt the temporary suspension until the price gouging started. When I saw PMAGs jump to $60 and 1000 rounds of ammo go up by 100+% in less than a few hours then I decided CTD did not want my business. To gouge their customers that way is inexcusable. Many others feel the same way. I understand they did this a few years ago too.

I guess now its very unfortunate that he kept any part of the name. I'm sure he's seeing the fall out of the online decision. It didn't take long for that to change as they saw their customer base dropping like flies.

Re: Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales
I was able to get a couple AR mags as a result of DaveT's suggestion. Thanks DaveT! I also found a retailer who still had AK mags so I'm set for now. I'm sure over the next week or two I'll be trying to get a few more.rentz wrote:Did you try brownells? I've gone to 5 different sites to order 30 round mags for non-AR rifle. All show in stock. Some even quote high in stock numbers. I place my order, receive my confirmation email that it was submitted successfully then 10 min later I receive an email that states something like, "We have cancelled your order. The item you requested is either out of stock or it has been discontinued. We appreciate your business." I submitted one last order I'm hoping this goes through.

I was looking for AK mags originally but after the being denied several times, I'm now going to get a few AR mags so I appreciate the post. I finding sold out everywhere for PMags except CTD and I'm definitely not buying from them. Heading over to the website now to grab a couple.

Re: Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales
The Cheaper than Dirt in Ft. Worth and the one in McKinney must be affliated. I went to the Better Business Bureau to look them up. Ft Worth's website is cheaperthandirt.com and McKinney's is cheaperthandirtguns.com. There are different contacts associated with both but if you go to the websites they both have the same suspension notification. Is there a 3rd Cheaper than Dirt that I don't know about?Divided Attention wrote:Clint and Heidi Smith of Thunder Ranch posted that there are two Cheaper Than Dirt. The Ft Worth Store is a separate entity from the online/.com The .com has suspended sales and upped prices, the store has not.

Re: Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales
I've been watching the 'likes' on CTD facebook. They are losing 'likes' at a rate of 1000 per every 20min. I don't know what they started with but they should be getting the message.

Re: Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales
I've been watching CTD facebook. They've committed online business suicide. 10,000+ comments and less than 1% shows support for their decision. The fact they haven't posted anything else to support their decision after all these comments tells me this is a long term policy change. I've changed my position, I'll give it a few days to watch for feedback from them, if I don't see anything positive then I'm out too. Has anyone confirmed if the owner of CTD is the same owner of Tactical Firearms, eerily similar.
I caved and got the membership to Sportsman's Guide. I wasn't going to do it but when I check ammo prices they always have the lowest with shipping.

Re: Cheaper Than Dirt! suspends firearms sales
Yesterday, I saw AR style firearms at one of the local Walmarts. I wonder if its a regional decision and not a corporate one. Dick's Sporting Goods lost my business a long time ago. Until a couple of months ago I was still buying from Cheaper Than Dirt but then their pricing was no longer cheap as their moniker implied so I haven't done much business with them since, however, I'm not going to react to the recent announcement just yet. If they are just temporarily suspending firearm sales to ensure that their policies and paperwork cannot be leveraged by the government then I'm ok with that. I'll be watching for any feedback they provide over the next few weeks especially once the see the impact of their decision.
