This happened at poolside in a Dallas apartment complex. The dog's owner and ChildV's gentleman friend pulled the pit off of ChildV's dog. ( a rather dangerous thing to do IMHO)
The emergency vet bill was over $1500. ChildV has filed a police report.
I reminded ChildV about Texas Code 822.013 https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Doc ... HS.822.htm and that the pit's owner is responsible for all of the damage done by the attacking dog.
ChildV said she remembered that from her LTC class and that she told her friends that her Dad would have just shot the dog. I told her that she was right but I would have had two things to consider: How to shoot the pit at a crowded pool without collateral damage; and how to conceal my 1911 in my speedo.
