Re: Question about schools....

Yeah, I do not plan on informing them about proper sign posting. I have spoken twice with the owner (about other things) and she is one of those ladies that thinks she is better than everyone else. I don't like her at all. I am kind of stuck because where I live they are the one place that works with the local schools to help prep the girls for high school cheerleading which is what my daughter wants to do (she will be in high school next year). So I don't want to give them my business but do not want to "take away" from my daughter either. I might "inquire" about the purpose of the sign next time I am there. I personally think the owner doesn't want guns around her business based on what I know about her. Thanks for the responses.

Re: Question about schools....

Thanks for those links. After reading through them I suppose it could be considered a "learning center". But it is interesting to me because I have read the discussions on here about places like the zoo's who claim to have "schooling" take place so carry is illegal but that people carry anyways because the property is owned by the city. Seems like there are quite a few loopholes...as in everything I guess.

Oh well, at the end of the day, I guess "concealed" means "concealed".

Question about schools....

I was trying to find out what is considered a "school" or "educational institution". My daughter takes gymnastics and I am usually at work when she goes but last night I was off and was able to go and watch her. I actually wasn't carrying because I had just come from a military base (work), but when I got there I noticed a no gun sign. I wish I had taken a picture but I didn't. It wasn't 30.06. It said "the licensed and unlicensed possesion of a firearm is prohibited and punishable of $xxxx and xxxx time imprisionment." That isn't verbatum what it said, but it's darn close. It cited no laws or codes, only that it was forbidden and punishable. Anyways, I was thinking that perhaps they think it constitutes as a school or learning center since it teaches kids gymnastics. The establishment also is a venue that can be rented out for "Special Occasions- Weddings, Quinc's, Graduation, Birthday Parties, Bridal & Baby Showers & Seminars", but that is not it's primary function. Also, it is privately owned. Just curious as to the validity of the sign as far as being enforcable.
