Re: My Newest Creation (AR-308)
It passed the go-no-go test, but it does seem a bit tight. I could easily imagine one being reamed a hair too shallow and screwing the tight tolerance up. I had contemplated going with a Krieger, but I thought I would take a stab at this, since reports are good and the price is right. I suppose one ...

Re: My Newest Creation (AR-308)
Thanks for the kudos, all. Also, thanks for the scope recommendation TAM. I'll have to check one out. It will be a while before I purchase a fancy new scope as I don't want to push the limits of my wife's blessings. I picked up the DPMS 18" SASS barrel at Midway USA for $250. I read up a lot on...

My Newest Creation (AR-308)
Howdy, Ive been working on this build over the last couple months and I wanted to share it with ya'll. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Parts have been a little scarce but I was able to scrounge up what I needed, even an elusive RRA two stage trigger (CTD). I want to go on record as saying ...

Re: mounting scope
Good tutorial.
Though don't forget to lap those rings before hand, brake clean the mounting surfaces (inside of rings, outside of scope), and use a feeler gauge between the turret housing and the receiver/rail to get the crosshairs plumb.![evil :evil2:](./images/smilies/evil-2.gif)

Re: Buying frenzy has already started...
I'm trying to build a SR 25 platform rifle and have been using the best of my internet scrounging abilities to find parts. Ive been watching certain parts start to sell out across the internet and, am pouncing on them before they can disappear. So far so good, but it is making me buy parts out of or...

Re: Whats you AR camouflage color? post a pic.
Honestly, if you want a quad rail hand-guard to bridge the gap between nothing and a serious setup with the intent to get things running, you cant miss with that UTG. I was taught a long time ago, you should go low or go high. If you cant afford the best, get what is cheapest (and satisfactory) unti...

Re: Whats you AR camouflage color? post a pic.
Thanks for the back up, but these guys have always given great advice, so i still keep thier info in mind. Also, i am building my own rifle and like what TAM said in another post. Having the satisfaction of building your own rifle, and i feel adding the camo is just finishing off the gun. Sure enou...

Re: Whats you AR camouflage color? post a pic.
I didn't buy my 1911 in stainless with rosewood grips because I thought it would help its function. I also don't fault people for using linseed oil to give their wood stocks a nice finish, instead of just dumping it for a utilitarian plastic stock that will have fewer bedding needs. Guns are in so m...

Re: Zombie Max Strikes Again
Its not a big deal, I just find it amusing. Personally, the idea of carrying ammo with a joke name is unattractive, but to each his own. It would be like wearing GI Joe underwear. No one would see it (for the most part), but still. At least with underwear you have not charged it will the serious tas...

Zombie Max Strikes Again
Howdy everyone, I was at work yesterday talking to a compatriot who is also into firearms, and who also carries concealed. Our conversation turned to carry ammo, and I was espousing my good fortune with Federal HSTs. Then the unimaginable happened. He said "Well.. Ive had pretty good results at...

Re: What do you think of m AR15 build?
The deal with the gas systems for 16" barrels is this: -The carbine length is designed for 14" barrels and the like -The longer the round spends in the barrel past the gas port, the more pressure builds, making the gun cycle harder -The mid-length was designed to make a barrel to gas port ...

Re: What do you think of m AR15 build?
I second the Daniel Defense barrel. Have you considered going the mid-length gas system route? I will keep the cycle pressure down, and I personally think it looks more appropriate on a 16" barrel. Also check out the BCM Gunfighter line of charging handles. I will never go back to anything else...
