Re: Question about carrying in car concealed...
I know several cops who say that certain parts of the law pertaining to carrying in your vehicle (with or without a CHL) say "on OR ABOUT your person". They have been instructed that "about your person" means if it's within reach. They say it mostly comes up on a DWI stop where t...

Re: I sent my CHL back to DPS; what happens?
Be aware that sending back the license with the belief that you'll be taken "off the list" may or may not happen. I'm a software engineer and database analyst and we NEVER really delete data. It may get archived or it may just get a simple flag on your record to make it appear deleted. For...

Re: Heavy rifle?
I guess that depends on what you're planning on doing. I've never weighed my FNAR but I'm guessing it's not 15 pounds and I wouldn't want to haul that thing around a deer lease. If I'm just going to setup somewhere and try to pop varmints, then it's ok. I definitely know that I'm not going to haul a...

Re: College premises, Tennis tournament
It could be argued that tennis is not a sport. Just sayin..... I may agree with your sentiment but I've always believed that it isn't a sport unless someone is playing defense. It has started arguments with my cheerleader daughter and my wife (former cheerleader) but that's where I've made the stan...

Re: AR Magazine Recommendations
I know you're asking about steel mags but I'll give my 2 cents about the polymer. My Bushmaster was being really fickle with a variety of steel mags and producing quite a few FTF and FTE. I switched to the polymer Magpuls and haven't had even a single FTF/FTE in 2 years.

Re: Carry at a client site (contractor)
Nothing stated by the OP comes anywhere close to suggesting that 30.06 requirements were met Nor does anything the OP stated NOT suggest the requirements weren't met so here we are disagreeing over a hypothetical wording that neither of us has been made privy to. Keep that in mind when you're handc...

Re: Carry at a client site (contractor)
It may depend on the wording but they gave you effective notice in writing and you signed it. At best, they may just ask you to leave and never come back. At worst, they could have you arrested. You're probably safe from arrest on the client site (without a 30.06) but not from the company's premises.

Re: Interesting question I was asked
I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but I can't believe this is a question that anyone has to wonder about. Being in fear for your life is just a small part of the equation. Would you draw and start firing if those same people were trying to escape a fire in that store? If you have to think about it...

Re: Who carries their gun with a full mag +1?
I can't imagine any reason why anyone wouldn't carry with one in the pipe. Those I've known that don't are usually because they're new to carrying and haven't gotten over the fear of carrying with it ready to shoot. If you don't, you had better hope that you have time to rack the slide.

Re: Do you practice a phrase to yell if you draw on a BG?
I wouldn't really have a phrase once I'm forced to draw but if my hand has to go to my hip as I prepare to draw, I would probably go with something like "You'd better be sure" or "Are you right with God?". I would hope one of those would hit home to let the BG know he's about to ...

Re: anyone remember a thread?
This happened on an AR to, ummm, a friend - yeah, a friend. Turned out to be a broken disconnector spring. I think I remember reading that it could happen if the spring were in backwards. Simple fix. https://www.google.com/#q=ar+15+firing+2+shot+burst" onclick="window.open(this.href);retur...

Re: Great disappointment consumes my soul!
Too me this doesnt sound like an ammo problem. I have never had a problem with a Ruger product. My LC9 had a problem with Hornady Critical Defense. The polymer tip was catching on the short feed ramp of the LC9. When I switched (and everything else I tried), there was no problem at all. Problems wi...

Re: LC9 customization
That was my main complaint when I first bought mine but it comes less noticeable after you've run a couple of hundred rounds through it. I would give it some time and re-evaluate it later - although I never saw anything specific about shortening the trigger pull when I considered making mods.

Re: Going to the Dogs
My general rule of thumb is that if no defense is being played, it isn't a sport. Although I wouldn't risk going to jail on one person's made-up definition.
