Grapevinebill wrote:After all the waiting and thinking I am finding myself feeling unprepared. I really don't have a good CCW. I do have a Beretta 9mm but is it full size and really won't work IWB. I plan on adding to the collection and have been telling myself to wait till I get the plastic. But if I wait till I get the plastic, then I have to get a holster and it will be several weeks before I make the Wally Walk. With all our new walkers here maybe a suggestion could come my way on a good size .40 or 9mm and holster...

I have a Glock 19 and that's a pretty good gun, but for me it is more of a "winter" gun where I can conceal it a little better with more clothes on. In the summer with only a t-shirt and shorts it is hard for me to conceal it. My wife buys my t-shirt and polos on the tight fitting side so not a lot of room to conceal a glock. I'm thinking about a Taurus millenium Pro 45 because it is a lot thinner than my G19 and would conceal a little better. They have 9mm, 40 and 45. Plus it has a manual safety so I feel a little bit safer carrying with one in the chamber and not worry about accidental fire. As for holster I'm still looking. Anyone have any thoughts on the Blackhawk IWB tuckable holsters (saw them at academy for $34) and the Desantis sof-tuk holsters?

Re: August 2011 Applications

My only guess is that maybe in the dps mail room they may have bundle the mail per technician and maybe will only send mail if the amount of mail per technician reached a certain quota. Maybe "mailed" mean sent to the mail room. Has anyone who have not received their chl call and verified the mailing address? I thought I read somewhere on this forum that some people had their chl sent to their work place.

I'm still shopping for a good IWB holster and a smaller CCW.

Re: August 2011 Applications

I called and gave them the TCN number on 8/31 and they told me it would take 2-3 weeks for IT to pull the prints. I've also emailed them my TCN number as well and got a confirmation email saying that they got my fingerprint information (TCN number). The funny thing is I also included my L1 papers with the TCN number in the application packet I sent, I would assume someone would have looked at the packet and say "hey he included the TCN information in his packet". I called again on 9/12 and they told me that they already have the TCN number and it will take another 2-3 weeks for IT to pull the data, that will make it 6 weeks for IT to work on the problem and transfer the data). I was told that electronic fingerprinting will make the process quicker because everything will be in a database making cross referencing prints and applicants information easier. I guess their IT is half way across the world in India which would explain why it take 2-3 weeks to electronically transfer data or access the database. I would understand why it would take so long if they are still back in the paper days and have to track down the prints and match it with the application by hand. I assume now that everything is in a DB and writing a DB script to pull from a database is easy for IT. They could cross reference hundreds of information relatively pretty quickly. Sorry for the rant but coming from the IT world, seeing this kind of IT error is pretty frustrating. I guess I shouldn't really be complaining, it's still less than 60 days, running on day 15 now. Still seeing 15 days of error is still frustrating. Again, sorry for the rant. :confused5
