Suppressors are NFA restricted items and require a tax stamp issued by the BATFE before you may take possession of one from a SOT FFL. Someone more knowledgeable about the process should advise you regarding the specifics, but my understanding is the paperwork could take six months plus to get approval. I do not believe any restrictions exist or any pre-approvals are required in Texas for having the barrel threaded. I purchased a carbine which came threaded through a standard (non-SOT) FFL and nothing special was necessary.
