As I am not in the DFW area, my comments are all in reference to the online CTD, which is also associated with the McKinney location. I believe other comments to primarily be directed at the same.Heartland Patriot wrote:When folks talk about Cheaper Than Dirt, are the discussing the CTD Outdoor Adventures off of Loop 820 in Ft. Worth, or the warehouse/online business that is co-located with them? I've done business with both in the past, mostly just ammo purchases from the warehouse CTD. I did buy one firearm from the Outdoor Adventures about 2 years ago and a couple of solid, but inexpensive holsters, too. However, I am NOT happy with the warehouse CTD acting all scaredy cat about selling ARs, etc and trying to backpedal from it. Not sure about the Outdoor Adventures people, but I can imagine their prices have gone up, too. Haven't been in there since this mess started, and really have no desire to go, either. I think I'll pick up ammo from other sources once the panic buying dies down a bit and the stock levels come back up.

Perusing the other treads, you'll notice there's no love lost between CTD and many of the forum members here -- but I see this is your first post. (And a recent TexasCHLForum registrant... welcome!)jlrockboy wrote:Cheaper than dirt in McKinney had a good selection on Friday. Prices ran from 1700-2400 dollar, depending on manufacturer.
While it's certainly a free market and price "gouging" takes both a willing buyer and seller, they are one of many companies who saw fit to double (or more) their prices in recent days -- after halting all online guns sales to review polices that already required all shipments to go to FFLs. While not trying to defend CTD, because recent actions have turned me off as a customer, in response to an inquiry regarding pricing before this panic, I do recall CTD stating that their prices fluctuate to make what they have in inventory last for a specified period of time. I don't know off hand the exact nature of their equation, but I feel good folks would be happy with their existing (or even slightly higher) profit margins and not squeeze the last few customers. Time will tell for CTD if goodwill designed to attract and keep customers or their current pricing strategy works out best.
