Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?
Cedar Park Center just showed up on texas3006.com, but I haven't seen the sign for myself yet. I believe it is a city-owned building, operated by a private company. If it is fact city owned, I believe it should be legal to carry as long as it doesn't fall under professional sporting event, academic ...

Re: Shipping a heavy gun safe?
Those prices I found were based on a few listings I found in google search for:
site:uship.com gun safe
They might not be typical. I guess all I can do is post it and see what offers I can get.

Re: Shipping a heavy gun safe?
Cool site. I'll have to get the safe details and pics and may post there to get bids. Prices for similar items in the 800-1000 lb range look reasonable in the $300-$400 range.

Shipping a heavy gun safe?
My grandfather is moving and has to leave his heavy gun safe (guessing ~30 gun size) behind. He'd give it to me, but I have no idea how I'd get it from New Mexico to Texas. He mentioned they had to install it with a hydraulic lift. I think it's too heavy for me to move myself with a U-haul, so I'd n...

Re: Austin shooting outside home
Biggest questions I'm waiting to have answered are: 1) why was the driver under the car, as alleged by shooter's wife, and 2) original reports stated driver was unclothed, but those reports seem to be missing now. Was he clothed or not, and if not, why? Not sure if it legally matters (assuming shoot...

Re: Austin shooting outside home
I really hope it was a justified shooting. It will be a real shame if it was just a guy looking for help after his car accident and the home owner thought it was a burglar.

Re: Time Lapse of AR15 Lower Assembly
i just finished building my first lower before I saw this video, the use of the vise grips would have made the bolt catch install much much easier Alternative vice grips method was found on 2nd post here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/226782_Assemble_your_own_LOWER__UPPER__FREE_FLOAT__TRIGGER__G...

Re: Time Lapse of AR15 Lower Assembly
I have two ARs but that makes me want to put one together. Why was the upper assy. already assembled, are they usually? Mainly cost and build complexity. The lower is pretty easy to put together without any special tools, and buying a stripped lower and a parts kit is cheaper than buying an assembl...

I carefully selected the least valuable book I could find in my library, just for this task.

I've posted a time lapse of my first AR15 assembly on youtube. Nothing too cool other than the time lapse is kinda neat:

First encounter with LEO after witnessing accident
This weekend I witnessed an accident in Austin and stuck around to make sure the police got an unbiased account of events. While I waited for the police to arrive, I debated whether I should immediately volunteer to the police that I was carrying, or only if they asked for ID. I chose to volunteer t...

Re: UPDT:Freescale, Polycom, Paypal parking lot now posted 3
I noticed this morning that the gunbusters and 30.06 language has been removed from the parking lot signs. I'd post a picture, but it was too rainy to get a good one without getting wet.

Teaser for next week's episode Competition speeds up when marksmen fire one of the fastest shooting handguns on the market. The vote at the nomination range provokes a drastic reaction from one of the shooters and a shocking turn of events leaves competitors stunned. My prediction is that "dras...
