Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight Vanishes

Search now shifts approximately 700 miles to the Northeast, closer to Perth, as a result of new "credible" data.

"It indicated that the aircraft was travelling faster than previously estimated, resulting in increased fuel usage and reducing the possible distance the aircraft travelled south into the Indian Ocean."

These images are starting to look like debris from something.
The objects were between one meter (3 feet) and 23 meters (72 feet) in length and were seen across an area of ocean approximately 154 square miles wide, acting transport minister Hishamuddin Hussein told reporters.
Looks like a possible debris field to me...

Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight Vanishes

Heard one expert speculate that other countries probably DO have more satellite pictures but choose not to share them. Reason being is that may not want to show the world their satellite capabilities...or lack thereof. Makes sense, if true.

I pray for those aboard that were innocent, as no one is any closer than they were two weeks ago to finding this plane...

I think a fire or other inflight emergency is the most likely explanation but if it's foul play, I don't imagine them keeping the passengers alive this long. I also don't think they let the pilots live unless they're players in Act 2.
I just hope this whole thing is bazaar enough that they do locate the passengers still alive... :clapping:

I heard that too, but I am surprised that a pilot would be able to turn off the signals on purpose.
Pilots have to be able to turn any system off, if for no other reason than to help deal with electrical problems.
Which, come to think of it, might've been what happened.

And sprinkle in some of this...I think you have two key ingredients for a mystery resolution recipe. Just my opinion... :tiphat:

1) Transponder is turned off
2) Aircraft is descended in spiral mode to 300 ft above see level to avoid long distance radars.
3) Aircraft is flown to a remote island with enough runaway to land, fuel is available for another trip.
4) All electronics on board (including cellphones) are off.
4) Purpose of the hijack is criminal in nature.
If you take some of this...

That is a very plausible explanation.
If one of them shot it down I think the other 2 would be pointing fingers
I hear ya but who would have thought a plane could just disappear in this day and time.
I may not have my facts straight, but if it were shot down, when would it have been shot down? The engines were still shaking hands with the radar 7.5 hours after disappearing, no?

The news stated this morning that China is getting quite upset with how the investigation is progressing. There were obviously a large number of Chinese people on board...

and leading to a slow decompression that left all occupants unconscious. If such decompression left the aircraft intact, then the autopilot would have flown the planned route or otherwise maintained its heading/altitude until fuel exhaustion.

Wasn't that the same, basic scenario when Payne Stewart of the PGA, and others, died aboard their small, private jet a number of years ago?

Yes. However, Payne's plane didn't disappear from radar and the transponder continued to work.
Ah-Ha! This is true. And if I recall correctly, I believe their plane was also being shadowed by fighter jets in case it descended into a populated area. That was some sad stuff...
