finally out of here

From August 27 to November 15 was my time in the waiting room. Well, the wait is over. License is in the wallet. Now to settle in on a carry method that fits my lifestyle. And the beat goes on.................

Manufacturing

What the heck does "manufacturing" mean. After 58 days, they say they are manufacturing. I guess that is progress.

Re: New CHL - Received Wrong Card!

Sounds to me that you have a solution. If DPS contacts you, just tell them what happened. They should not complain since it was their error.

what to do

It has been several weeks now that I get the same message from the DPS site. They say they have received all my required documents, but say finger prints and background check has to be reviewed. Is there something else I need to do to expedite the process?

Re: Obama's Jobs Speech

That is exactly the thinking of a narcissist who will try to knock down anything that proposes to prevent his schemes. Ego-centric thinking distorts the narcissist's perceptions.

DPS opened mail

Well, 11 days after it was mailed, the envelop was opened. All requirements received. Need to finish fingerprint review and background check, then print and mail the plastic. Maybe soon. :patriot:

Finished my part

Took the Class today and qualified, so will mail the final pieces of the application Monday. I have done my part. Now it is up to the DPS. The clock or calendar begins. I hope it is more clock than calendar.

Re: Application protocol

Well, I followed advice and called DPS/CHL. After waiting three different times for more than 30 minutes, they finally answered. They agreed that my situation would not fit the online form. The solution was for me to send an addendum letter with the remainder of my application, explaining the reside...

Getting ready

I haven't fired a pistol in 50 years, but have decided to conceal carry if licensed. I am about to take the course and fire for certification. So I thought I ought to get some practice in before doing that. Back when I was 18 years old and in the Marines, I couldn't hit a barn from the inside with a...

Reciprocity meaning

If I get my CHL in Texas, then move to North Carolina, does reciprocity mean that my license is recognized in North Carolina until it expires even though I develop a residence there? Is it voided as soon as I get a NC driver's license? I am not sure about the limits of reciprocity.

Re: No CHL apartment complex carry question

You may be right about Marines. I am 71 and have never felt vulnerable a day in my life. Only recently have considered a CC. I have traversed some rough areas of Houston for over 25 years. Maybe the Marine experience planted that in me or maybe I am oblivious to the realities that swirl about.

...that kind of behavior makes the news, like the fat pig punching a handcuffed suspect, and a lot of harm is done to the image of our law enforcement officers...it's hard to wear the badge and know that people like this are part of what society thinks we are...the greater majority of law enforceme...

Application protocol

Problem: History does not fit the form. Under residence history, the requirement is to list all residences and dates without gaps. I have had a permanent address at the same location in Texas since May of 2005. However, during that time, I spent about 2 years in Hong Kong in a temporary position. A...
