If it's a "professional sporting event" they don't need to post, and if the event isn't happening and the property is not privately owned, they don't get to post.PaJ wrote:I just looked at their website concerning entrance security. It says a 30.06 will be posted at entrances. I didn't see it but may have missed it. Here's the link.

Re: Houston Rodeo BBQ No Carry Allowed?
This same scenario has played out at the State Fair of Texas many times. You walk up to security, inform them that you are CHL carrying, and unless they inform you that, per section 30.06 you are not allowed, then they pretty much have to follow the law and let you in. And if they just say "no guns allowed" and so on, you probably have cause for legal action.Glockster wrote:I came from the land of OC/CC, and could do both so never had to worry about intentionally displaying. I'm asking this as I'd truly like to know, not as flame bait...but being newish to TX I've never encountered these situations. So with this one - you get there, no 30.06 posting but they have a metal detector. It does go off and they ask you what it is and/or to remove it. What then? Do you tell them what it is, or do you show your CHL and wink, do you lift your shirt, or what?jimlongley wrote:My thought, then, would be that you should not leave the gun in the car until notified otherwise. Just because they are using metal detectors doesn't mean they can prevent CHL from carrying.TexasCajun wrote:30.06 wouldn't be enforceable as NRG park & stadium are county-owned & operated. At best, I'd say that 51% could apply to individual vendors but not to the entire event.jimlongley wrote:Was there any 51% or 30.06 notification?PaJ wrote:I was there last night. When entering the carnival area to get to the cookoff, everyone had to go through a metal detector. When I emptied my pockets, I had a small pocket knife and a larger knife. They didn't recognize the larger one as a knife, but made me throw the small one away or return it to my car but that was too far for the value of the knife. I wasn't carrying my gun because I planned to have a few adult beverages.
So, I guess its safe to say that you should leave the gun in the car.
