Took a northern Whitetail Deer in 1965 with my M1903-A3 Springfield (unmodified) near Greenville, NY, just east of Basic Creek. About 135 yards, with battle sights sighted point blank at 200 yards, held a little low and dropped him with one shot. Western Super X 180 grain Power Point .30-06.

I never took another deer with that rifle, but only because I never tried, but I did shoot a couple of woodchucks with it just for fun. I also used to shoot long range matches with that rifle and it never let me down.
