Regardless what you are convinced of, you modified my post to make it appear I was referring to something I wasn't.Nutcracker wrote:The fox news link is quoted in my post but whatever. At this point, I'm no longer convinced he did it.

Re: Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Active Shooter
My point wasn't related to the child porn. I quoted the post to make sure the link to the report from which I pulled the quotes, which you deleted in your post, was included in my post.Nutcracker wrote:Maybe they put it there. It's the only way to be sure.mojo84 wrote:Interesting how they know and have focused on this.philip964 wrote:http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/01/19/la ... eriff.html
Had child porn on his computer.
My comment was in reference to how they, the government and investigators, know which guns he purchased and when they were purchased since there isn't supposed to be a registry or list maintained. The only way it to track them down one by one using the serial numbers and tracing them from the manufatcturer through the retailer. Seems that would be very time consuming and when they were purchased does not seem all that important to me.
I'm more interested in knowing why he did it and who else, if anyone, was involved.

Friday’s report said Stephen Paddock bought nearly double the number of firearms in the year leading up to the attack that he'd bought in the 24 years after his first gun purchase in 1982.
“From 1982 through September of 2016, Paddock purchased 29 firearms. These purchases consisted of handguns, shotguns and one rifle,” it read. “From October 2016 through September 2017, Paddock purchased over 55 firearms."
It continued: "Most of the firearms purchased from 2016 through 2017 were rifles in various calibers along with over 100 firearm related items through numerous retailers. The firearm-related items included scopes, cases, bump stocks and ammunition."

Re: Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Active Shooter
The last time I saw the Sheriff giving a press conference he appeared overwhelmed and frustrated with every little thing he said being twisted and parsed. I bet he and the mayor decided it was best to go quiet until the investigation was further along and they could disseminate info in a manner that everyone wouldn't be able to play the gotcha game so easily.
There may be a great grand conspiracy involved here but I think it's way too early to jump to that conclusion. I also believe the focus should be on solving the crime and determining if all the actors are accounted for rather than trying to squelch rumors that the public conjures up based on what little info they have.

Alex Jones and Infowars can find a conspiracy in an apple falling from a tree. I am very leery of anything they put out.

Cornyn is focused on bump-stocks.

On Wednesday Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) said a hearing on banning bump-stock devices is “worthwhile.”
His statement comes three days after an attacker used a bump-stock device criminally to attack concert-goers in Las Vegas.
According to Politico, Cornyn talked about semiautomatics versus automatics and said he is “not sure how the bump stock [fits] into that scheme,” but he believes the Senate “ought to get to the bottom of it.”
He said, “It is ordinarily illegal to transform a semi-automatic weapon into an automatic weapon, and it’s illegal to buy an automatic weapon unless you have a special license and undergo a special background check.”
