Speaking of which ...dale blanker wrote:Sure but what's the point? I used to think there was more to being a president than just continually stirring things up for attention. I used to think the president should be someone I respect intellectually. I used to think the president represented the core values of our country. "Wrong, wrong, wrong!" We are watching the old tv miniseries "Winds of War". In one scene, Capt Pug Henry played by Robert Mitchum is in a "7-minute meeting" with Hitler and others that lasts hours, with Hitler lecturing the whole time instead of considering a question the Americans came to ask. Hitler would never listen to anyone throughout the series including his generals. It seemed like his turning point and real downfall was developing an eastern front with Russia and not attacking England at the right time. Both mistakes were from not listening to his generals.
I'm not comparing Trump's motives with Hitler's but Trump's egomania, lack of consulting, and frequent useless ramblings are worrisome.

Why is a flag different?dale blanker wrote:No.mojo84 wrote:Do you believe a person can legally burn whatever they want on a public street or sidewalk as long as it's their own property they are burning?dale blanker wrote:Hey, if a guy chooses to burn a flag that he owns and does not cause damage to someone else's property, then so what? Well, so he's obviously an idiot, not worth getting excited about. But suggesting that he should be jailed or lose his citizenship is beyond the pale, i.e. even dumber yet. I'm afraid our common sense is in decline.

Do you believe a person can legally burn whatever they want on a public street or sidewalk as long as it's their own property they are burning? What about burning one's car, a pile of clothes or other items in protest?dale blanker wrote:Hey, if a guy chooses to burn a flag that he owns and does not cause damage to someone else's property, then so what? Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump
Yeah, it's kind of like going out and setting fire to one's car or clothes or other personal item to protest the government. Guess we can try that and see how it works out.

Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump
Interesting to me how we got to the point that destruction of property by burning is considered "speech".

Re: FLAG burning being challenged by Trump
Seems like he is just expressing his opinion and that opinion happens to differ from that of SCOTUS. There are several issues with which I disagree with SCOTUS.
