How many times do we here about the use of military tactics to bust up terrorists in the USA versus serving warrants for non terrorist suspects? I think the military mission is different than the law enforcement/peace officer mission. Therefore, different tactics and strategy needs to be used. They reference the marathon bombing. How well did their domestic spying and military training work in preventing that?
I think the military tactics and mindset is overused domestically. Naming something a "war" doesn't justify militarizing the police.

It was fun I just wish I could get out and walk more. Riding around patrolling for hours I start to get stiff. Maybe the next guy I ride with will let me get out and be more proactive.
Did he want you to stay in the car most of the time while he handled most of the calls since it was your first shift? Do you have your uni and most all of your gear already.

That's all that matters.
The condition you left the people you swore to protect in should take precedence over officer safety.
When this is not the case, bad things happen.
Yes sir. I agree 100%. I was being sarcastic as the current attitude of all that matters is going home at the end of shift is skewing many cops attitudes away from what they have sworn to do. I wish there was a better sarcasm smiley. I guess the wink smiley doesn't work.

Can I carry my firearm consealed firearm in a school off duty legally? Reason is I like every now and then to go visit my old co workers at the school I used to work for.
That surprises me. I thought a cop could carry just about anywhere off duty he/she could on duty.

Seems like just the other day you were facing lots of unknowns and much uncertainty. Isn't it amazing how and how quickly it worked out?

I've used sole dressing on items such as this in the past to clean up some worn areas or flaws.Excaliber wrote:I haven't tried this, but black leather dye might reduce the ruboff problem.gigag04 wrote:Maybe but ours were such a dark shade of navy it wasn't noticeable. I only did it on outward facing parts of cuff cases that would get torn up from the car seat. A little bit goes a long way.

Re: Police Academy Adventures
Carlson, I too prefer leather over nylon. Guess I'm part of the old school crowd. I've just heard several talk about how much better on their bodies nylon seems to be. Then again, it may be a fad thing. Either one, I'm glad I don't have to wear all that gear all day.

Highly recommend ASP cuffs if you can afford them.
Do you prefer nylon over the leather? There's something cool about leather but I'm heading more guys are switching.

Re: Police Academy Adventures
Excaliber, I have several friends that are moving away from leather and going to high quality nylon or whatever it is. They say it is lighter and easier on their bodies due to it being lighter. Any thoughts or recommendations for the future officer in this regard?

I know Dury's in San Antonio gives law enforcement discounts. Not sure if they sell online or not. They usually have an excellent selection from which to choose.

He overlooked the factual evidence of the smiley (picture) in order to draw his conclusion.
I find it interesting how some on here choose to take comments as an afront even those none was intended. Maybe they take themselves too seriously. I can't figure it out.

I'm surprised some of the boards cops or law experts hasn't responded.
