Re: Dallas Summer Musicals-Fair Park - 30.06 CHL Carry????
Has anyone been here lately? I know you can carry on the fair grounds, but what about in the Music Hall? Is it posted or metal detectors/wands being used?

Re: Things I Learn From Newbie Shooters
How often do you take your daughter to the range? Sadly, I haven't ever taken here before. One thing I haven't figured out is what age restriction ranges have on youth. Figured it was 12 and up or something similar. We're waiting for the new range to open in McKinney hopefully in a few months...I'm...

Re: Cabela's discount
Every time I go to Cabela's all I have to do is show them my military ID and they knock 10% off the order. But......so far my purchases have been ammo, holsters, and t-shirts. Buying the wife her first pistol tonight (Springfield XD9 3")....anyone know if their year-round discount applies to fi...

Re: Things I Learn From Newbie Shooters
The sad thing is, the newbie shooters aren't the only ones you have to watch out for. There are plenty of people who have been around firearms their whole lives, but were never really taught safe gunhandling. Some may have been taught what they know by their fathers who never really learned it them...

Re: New member from Tyler area
A "vacation condo" in Tyler, TX? How interesting. I knew that Tyler was possibly the wettest dry city in Texas but I'd somehow never pictured Tyler as a vacation destination. What do you do over here amonst us bumkins for grins? Ha. It overlooks the Cascades golf course. Very peaceful.......

Re: New member from Tyler area
We have a vacation condo in Tyler at the Cascades off of the main loop that we visit at least once a month. There is an indoor gun range right in that same area.....any of you Tyler area folks been there? How's the environment/pricing, etc? We're used to walking our big Dallas area malls, so it woul...

Re: Easy Breezy - State Fair 2011
Family and I went to the State Fair on Sunday. We had a very easy time getting in. As we approached one of the staff with the metal detector wand, I simply showed her my CHL with a simple "Ma'am" to get her attention to it before she wanded me. She waved for the supervisor to come over, wh...

Re: It's long past time to end "gun free" policies on U.S. m
It's also frustrating that as a CHL holder and a member of the Army National Guard, the 30.06 sign is posted at the vehicle main entrance to JRB Fort Worth which means I have to leave my weapon at home because I can't have it in my vehicle once I enter the base. No big deal to carry a loaded M4, but...

Re: how many bullets do you CHLers carry?
My Glock 19 carries 15 rounds in the standard magazine, so that's how many I carry. If I have to fire more than 15 times, then I need to think twice about pulling the trigger the first time, because that's 15 rounds that will miss and may cause collateral damage. No offense to those of you who carry...

Re: Gun for left-handed wife?
That said, I think it'd make the most sense not to outright buy her something. If she doesn't like the way Glocks feel (very few people I know feel that way), what's the chance you'll find one she really does like? Not planning on just buying her one, looking for suggestions for specific models so ...

Gun for left-handed wife?
Took my wife to the gun show at Dallas Market Hall on Saturday......she found some pistols that she liked, but not yet wild on anything. So, looking for suggestions for her, though there are a couple of "requirements": 1. She prefers a 9mm caliber 2. Light-weight 3. Left-handed - she insis...

Re: Proof for veteran discount???
I got the active military discount ($0) - all I sent in was a copy of the front and back of my military ID and a copy of my last LES. There were no issues, questions, anything. On the online status check, it showed everything received under the "Special Conditions" section. As long as you'...

Re: May 2011 Applications
Glad to hear I haven't passed a normal wait yet....hate waiting on mail, the excitement is killing me! Unfortunately, can really only carry on the weekends since during the week I'd have to go home from work to retrieve the weapon before going out for the night cause employer bans guns in office and...

Re: May 2011 Applications
So.......for those of you who's status has recently changed to mailed, has anyone yet actually received their card in the mail? Mine showed mailed on the 6th, but as of today still has not shown up. So don't know if they took their time actually dropping it in the mailbox, or it's the issue of mail ...
