Do You Also Carry a Knife Daily?
Just wondering if most of you CHl'ers carry a knife along with your gun. If you do what kind and why. I am trying to find out what a good daily carry knife would be, and how much to spend on one. Seems like someone is always asking "does anyone have a knife?" And for me right now I don't. Thanks for the help.

I do carry a knife. Pretty much for the same reason. Some one always asking for one. Most of the time though(Specially at work) its "Hey Wildscar let me see your knife." Its nothing flashy or expensive. Just good enough to get the job done. I think I paid less than 10 buck for a pack of 10 or so at a flea market.

By the time I put on my pistol, extra mag, sometimes OC, wallet, keys, money.....ect, and then add a small swiss army knife and my larger knife, it's alot of weight so I try to get a carry knife that's lightweight. I typically carry a Spyderco with the polymer handles but when I lighten the load I carry a nicer one.

Re: Do You Also Carry a Knife Daily?
Most of my carry knives are CRKT. Some are light and small, some are not so. The 2 that I carry just about everywhere are a CRKT M21 and a CRKT M16. If you are looking for a knife that you will have on but forget that you are wearing it, then look at the CRKT M16. I have the M16-10KZ, got it for less then $30 at Wal-Mart. A friend got one for about $20 on E-bay. Some people do not like it because it has the auto Lawks. But I do not mind it. It just makes it a little harder to close.bigolbigun wrote:Just wondering if most of you CHl'ers carry a knife along with your gun. If you do what kind and why. CRKT M16-12...The one with the Tanto tip...
Its a nice little clip knife that makes short order of the boxes you get paper in...The plastic bands are no match for the "blade-man"!!!
I've carried it for years...But, if I ever get to a point where I need it for self-defense...I be in heap bigger trouble than I care to admit...

I carry a Kershaw Leek. One handed opening (darn near a switch blade but legal by Texas definitions) and holds an edge pretty darn well. Also, very slim and fairly light weight. I think I gave ~$45 for mine including shipping. From http://www.newgraham.com/ .... good customer service too from both the E-tailer and Kershaw. When the finish started rubbing off of my pocket clip I sent Kershaw an E-mail inquiring how to go about purchasing a new clip. They sent me three pocket clips and three sets of new mounting screws along with a nifty screwdriver to boot.
If I don't use it at LEAST once a day I'd say someone asks me for it at LEAST that often. I see a pocket knife as one of those things people should just "have." Kind of like a lighter, whether or not you smoke.
They are immensely useful and in a pinch are far better than spittin' in the eye of a would be assailant (the blade, not so much the lighter).
ETA: That does not mean that a knife fight would be a walk in the park. Remember gang, there is no winner in a knife fight, just varying degrees of losing.

The question of "do you carry a knife" is one of the very most distressing questions I have heard American men ask? I don't know if it's just an age/generational thing due to social training, or city/country issue. Being "50 something" and having lived in somewhat small town all my life, I grew up with pocket knives, and don't know any men my age that would even consider putting their pants on without a knife. Most of us started taking our pocket knife to school in 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade. By 5th or 6th grade the teacher was likely to ask to borrow a student's pocket knife for some chore or another. By the end of the year, she figured out who had the sharpest knife to borrow.
It's unfortunate that we have allowed such a stigma to be placed on pocket knives that they are no longer considered essential tools for men.
Sorry for the rant. Yes, I carry pocket knive(s) daily.
