Department of Heath Services CHL OK?

#1

Post by Gameover »

I need to go down to the Department of State Heath Services later on today and just want to make sure I can carry inside. I believe I can because of it being a government building but just want to make sure. Thanks guys and gals!

Is it state government or federal since federal dollars are also used?

Should be good to go unless there is a court somewhere in the same building, right?

I have never seen a 30.06 at any of the HHSC (Texas Health and Human Services Commission) buildings that I have been to.

Good to go! No sign in sight. Side note was the parking is very limited.

Hate to bump this, but if you're going to WIC, they are a state agency that is 100% federally funded, so that's a grey area. Most of the other parts of the HHSC family of agencies are state funded, so they should be okay to carry.

If it's state property and a state agency, doesn't make any difference how it's funded. still doesn't make it a federal agency.

Well, the confusing thing in all of this: WIC HQ at Howard Lane (behind Kiddie Acres) is not a state owned property from what I understand, rather it is leased. So it's a federally funded state agency inside a privately owned facility. Also, badge access or escort only, no general public access without prior arrangement or escort.

my wife works as Program Manager for the local region of HHSC, I have carried inside her building, and any other buildings that she has to visit... Its a state agency that uses federal funding, NOT a federal building... even though i have not carried in the state office in Austin thats still just a state building... (sat in parking lot waiting for her).... she states that according to policy they(employees) CANNOT carry even in thier cars (MPA) in the parking lot but she hasn't shown me in writing.... as mentioned all of the offices i visited i have carried in them,,

That's why I started this one:

Find it a bunch of bull that the Commissioner (on his way out for a number of scandals) can set policy that supersedes state law.

Means it is a state agency. Funding is irrelevant.
