Wow, 63 Ohio officers suspended
Re: Wow, 63 Ohio officers suspended
I remember this case.
Michael Brelo is the officer's name that is being indicted, who stood on the hood and fired through the windshield. He claims he doesn't remember doing that.

The full interview can be seen here. It is a little over an hour long. He says he couldn't believe they wouldn't stop shooting at them.

We do not have crimes for which there is summary execution in this country. That contempt of cop or being stupid is even being thought of as an excuse for what they did is incredible and disturbing. What give me hope is that they were suspended for their actions so perhaps it is not too far gone.

It's not written in law, it's just common knowledge.VMI77 wrote: Uhhh....where in the law does it say police can kill people who run from them? I realize we're no longer under the rule of law....but just sayin'.
You run from the police, you're a felon.
Run from the police in a car, you're using a deadly weapon.
You're creating a real and immediate danger to the officers and the public.
Pretty easy to justify summary execution under those circumstances...

No it's not. It is never allowed to execute someone without due process.

I'll try again: It's easy to justify the use of deadly force under those circumstances.

That makes more sense. Lots of difference between execution and justifiable use of deadly force.

Re: Wow, 63 Ohio officers suspended
I cannot find it now, but this case was brought up in another thread and mentioned this officer had been found not guilty or was acquitted of the charges.
Anyway, I stumbled across this tonight. It looks like it is not completely over yet.

I don't know if that can change the outcome of that trial or not, but it still amazes me that none of those guys were found guilty for those two deaths. An Ohio prosecutor said Friday a judge made critical errors before finding a Cleveland police officer not guilty in the deaths of two unarmed suspects and he wants an appeals court to order the judge to correct the record.

Two people died who did nothing but run and this caused the police to chase and kill them!

"Summary executions"...."servicing" American citizens? I guess I missed those classes. The law is very clear and unambiguous as to the circumstances of taking a life without due process. Ignoring the Constitutional and lawful mandates makes peace officers into storm troopers ripe for incarceration.JP171 wrote: ummm yea it is, you act as a traitor and cause my teammates to die, guess what no due process your a target that I WILL service and you, well umm your a corpse
One question about the procedure. After you stop them and they raise their hands in surrender, do you handcuff the suspects before or after they get "serviced"?

Re: Wow, 63 Ohio officers suspended
The last military execution was April 13, 1961 of a Private convicted of more serious crimes than misconduct in front of the enemy and desertion. We do not have summary executions anymore and attempting to do one might lead you to a nice cell in Leavenworth. If we, as a nation (and military) were willing to try Nazi's before hanging them the same should apply to anyone else.JP171 wrote:Actually Mamabear yes we do, and Bowe Bergdahl is one that it could have happened tomamabearCali wrote:We do not have crimes for which there is summary execution in this country. This case isn't about the military though and police officers in a modern society shouldn't be unloading into a car unless they have a darn good reason to (see the attacks in Paris as an example). Fleeing from the police is not an excuse to execute people.

Then if you're military, you may discover to your horror that the U.S. Government employs thousands of lawyers who have little to do, have virtually no common sense, and no scruples about prosecuting U.S. service members.JP171 wrote: I don't stop them I'm not a cop
Regardless, rest assured that IF you ever make good on your threat, no matter how justified you may actually be, writing such words about "servicing" on the Internet will come back to haunt you.
