While it is too early to give up the hope completely I sent both my Rep and Senator an email thanking them for their support on these two important bills. I wanted them to receive some positive reinforcement for their hard works. I asked them to keep up the fight until the very end. It might not matter to them, and they likely won't read the emails. For me and mine, I would rather use honey than vinegar.

We can always get the detailed reports from Chas later and ensure that the ones who are either intentionally using misinformation and lies, or are simply too stupid to be trusted are removed from power.

what nobody is talking about but what I'm seeing is that if HB910 dies then so does the $200 Class C misdemeanor for accidental 30.06 violations.

That will be a bigger loss than open-carry.

That is what I meant by my earlier post about OCT people not taking an easy 90 % win. If I had my choice, I would have taken that penalty reduction even over open carry, but we could have had them both.

But penalty reduction and licensed open carry don't benefit the president of OCT.

Will be overseeing the committee for the House, when and where can you see who from the Senate will be there and when this committee will get started on this?

Phil King voted nay, but he supports OC. I am sure he will do everything he can to get OC moving in conference. In spite of his vote today, he is in the "us" camp. I think we should hold public anger until all is said and done. This thing is so close, let's don't throw a wrench in the gears. Contacting our reps in anger and threatening to vote for someone else next election probably would cause more harm than good. IMHO.

Chas, not to change the subject (not really by much) but with 20/20 hindsight what would've been the chance of getting HB 308 through without being gutted? It just seems to that campus carry had to get passed first.

I sent my representative the following brief note:

"Honorable sir,

The military has been family in one way or another for about half my life, so your background assures my continued support of you, but I would ask that you please not allow others to penalize supporters of HB910 for the sins of certain Democrats (Dutton & Huffines).

You changed your previous yes vote to a no tonight. That puts HB910 in jeopardy, effectively allowing the feelings of 79,000 law enforcement officers to deny reduced 30.06 penaties and licensed open carry for 825,000 law abiding citizens of Texas. While I am sure that you have many eloquent words that you can tell me, let me assure you that like a guy named Paul from an old Good Book, I am observant of actions, not words.

If there is any way that you can rescue HB910 from a slow death in committee, I and 824,999 other lawful licensed Texans would appreciate it.

Stay well and keep up the good fight!"
