Since some of this thread is very long and morphing into discussion on today's House session, I've created a new thread for today's session.

Police across state today, incl. @CLEAT, Dallas Police Assoc and @HPOUTX speaking out against Huffines #opencarry amendment today #txlege
The Dutton form of the amendment already passed the house plus it was explained in the senate (Huffine form) that this does not affect police action with or without the amendment and that it's simply a reassertion of protections provided by the fourth amendment of the U.S. constitution placed into state statute.

However this discussion is better suited for the HB910 thread.

So... Longoria is going to kill SB 1003 because he's angry that Schaefer killed a bill (on its merits) that Longoria sponsored?

Longoria is on record multiple times saying that SB 1003 is a good bill "that needs some work" (paraphrasing).

Like dealing with an angry child.
