this is true -- just so happen at walmart last night and noticed 5 federal boxes (325 rd boxes) hidden behind other ammo so finally got someone over in the department and to my surprise they dont sell ammo from 10pm to 7am -- it happened to be 11:30pm and i asked them whom they were hiding the ammo for, he just laughed and said what do you mean? -- i said well only managers and department manager for sporting goods has keys and with the ammo being hide behind other ammo it had to be done by one of them -- he just said i dont know what your talking about but be here at 7am and it will still be here cause thats when we will sell it -- so just happened to be up at 6 this morning and went there walked over to the ammo counter box and behold no more boxes in there and its 6:30 am -- so i asked them where they went and how come they were sold, they all acted surprised and as i was leaving i seen the same support manager i talked too at 11:30 and told him i knew you were lying and holding the ammo for someone cause its all gone and its 6:30 am so no ammo should of been sold but it has magically disappearedOldgringo wrote:

Re: Scored some .22 LR at Walmart today
I happened upon some 22 a while back in a local Walmart and heard one of the employees on his phone calling family to come get it. Since Academy consistently has 22 in stock and Walmart virtually never does, it's rather obvious Walmart employees are allowed to get away with dispensing ammo to friends and relatives before any finds its way into the hands of the general public. That being the case, I highly doubt whether these employees are applying the same 3 box limit to themselves that they apply to the public on the rare occasions friends and family haven't cleaned out new stock. I used to buy a lot of ammo at Walmart but I don't even bother looking there any more unless I happen to be in the store for some other reason.PBR wrote:this is true -- just so happen at walmart last night and noticed 5 federal boxes (325 rd boxes) hidden behind other ammo so finally got someone over in the department and to my surprise they dont sell ammo from 10pm to 7am -- it happened to be 11:30pm and i asked them whom they were hiding the ammo for, he just laughed and said what do you mean?

I've had the exact situation but over 9mm a while back. I saw it stashed away and wanted to buy it but was told that I couldn't because it was too late at night. I pointed out to him that I literally just bought 3 boxes a day before at a Walmart a few miles away at the same time. He acted surprised and said that wasn't the policy of Walmart. When I asked to see the policy he went and got the manager and the manager told me the same thing. Showed up bright and early and it was already gone.PBR wrote:this is true -- just so happen at walmart last night and noticed 5 federal boxes (325 rd boxes) hidden behind other ammo so finally got someone over in the department and to my surprise they dont sell ammo from 10pm to 7am -- it happened to be 11:30pm and i asked them whom they were hiding the ammo for, he just laughed and said what do you mean?

It was even weirder because another employee overheard all of this and informed me that they didn't know what was going on because they had sold ammo at night before without exception.

What do you expect from someone who makes 7 dollars an hour at walmart…. honesty? lol
They probably get a kick back for holding it for their friends.

Re: Scored some .22 LR at Walmart today
Haven't seen 22lr in Walmart in 2 years. I get small 50 count boxes from Academy on a regular basis and on the rare instance when I can be there when they open, I sometimes get lucky and get a brick. I think most of the 22lr in my area get bought up by a group of people that turn around and resale it online for 3 or 4 times its retail cost. Bozo's keep buying it from them so they keep doing it.

Re: Scored some .22 LR at Walmart today
I've had some luck at Wal-Mart but more at Academy, where I was able to pick up a couple 1,400 round buckets. I think I am sufficiently stocked for my needs, so I have stopped even looking. Now powder on the other hand...

I have good luck watching Ammoseek.com , I reload but not 22's . There is always plenty of folks selling but low prices are not guaranteed .

Re: Scored some .22 LR at Walmart today
i don't think its all hoarding. I think a lot of it is dealers buying ammo at walmart and such to resell at gun shows. Ever notice their is no shortage of expensive 22 ammo at the gun show?
Re: Scored some .22 LR at Walmart today
very true also all over on guntrader and other sites -- i happened to get couple 500rd bricks from carters country in pasadena for $28 per brick they still had probably 20 boxes or morewinters wrote:i don't think its all hoarding.
