LDB415,
Male opera singers, news people, kabuki actors, et al., wear makeup as a necessary part of their work. Agreed and not found repugnant.
You said: "...men wearing makeup in general as a life choice. The former probably remove it at the first opportunity, for the most part anyway, and the latter, for the most part, presumably refresh periodically as any girl would."
These people are not men. Well, perhaps girly-men would be a more accurate description.
Wearing makeup in general as a life choice and refreshing it periodically as any girl would makes me shudder with disgust...
Metrosexuals wearing makeup, getting nail treatments, and all things most men find girly are something I just can't imagine as something appealing to me any more than a fish can imagine fire.

Re: Males Are Now Wearing Makeup
I've worn stage makeup when doing plays (many, many moons ago) and, I have to admit, I have used concealer to cover hand and wrist tattoos during job interviews. I got the jobs so it must have been ok.

Thanks for noting that. I'm very sleepy this morning and made an error. I've corrected it.
It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.

Blurring the distinct lines between the sexes is common place nowadays. I believe it is a feminist tactic to remove the male (or male influence) from society.Abraham wrote:Overall, it sounds like most here think males wearing makeup not a bad idea.
WOW!
I guess I'm just not up with the times...
Good grooming and hygiene is one thing, but it would seem, most, certainly not all here, are accepting of males wearing makeup, so narcissism overall has really been accepted as the new O.K. norm....
I think the acceptance of metrosexualism repulsive, but apparently I'm in the minority.
Yes, I need some liquid foundation that will not only enhance my beauty, but match my skin tone and most importantly bring out the luster of my eyes...gag....

Abraham, I get what you're saying, but there are times when it actually is kind of necessary.....Abraham wrote:cheezit ,
O.K. - it's just a topic to discuss.
Me, I find males wearing makeup a startling new phenomenon, unless there's always been some underground metrosexual movement I knew nothing of finding it's way into the mainstream.
I find it weird/disturbing.
I can't imagine any male friend or relation for that matter wearing freaking makeup.
Gag...
What next?
Guys wearing women's frilly clothing in public?
What happened to guys being proud to be guys?
There was one time about 5 years ago that I had to actually wear makeup. I was part of a music video production. We were doing an HD video recording of a live praise and worship concert at my church, and I was part of the band. Everybody in the band had to submit to the ministrations of a professional makeup artist before we went on stage, not for cosmetic reasons, but for lighting reasons. It was a two-night concert, so I had to submit to this twice. This was a total production. There was the music, of course, but also there was lighting effects, smoke, video projections, etc., etc. The guys didn't really need anything like eye-liner or lipstick or any of that stuff. It was just some kind of neutral color face-powder that cuts down on shine from facial oils because the lights were so bright. The girls had a field day and twittered and cooed like a flock of birds while being worked on. The guys were mostly just kind of embarrassed and tried to joke our way through it.
The concert was released on a two-disc set, one being a CD for your car/inhome CD player, the other being a DVD. The DVD also has downloadable PDFs of all the song charts, as well as short videos of the songwriters talking about how they were inspired to write each of the songs. All but a couple of the 15 songs are originals, written by various band-members. It was a pretty big production, and we have a large worship team, so we rotated 3 different bands through during the concert, doing substitutions at various points, all finely orchestrated just like a football team. I appear on acoustic guitar on songs #4, 6-10, and 12.
You can buy the audio-only version of the whole thing at https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/let-t ... d303957309.

TAM,
You had a good reason for wearing makeup. It was for a professional performance.Totally understandable.
It was not a life choice.
I guess part of what makes me cringe about guys wearing makeup as a life choice (among other girly things like lingerie for males, I kid you not...) is the weird trend of acceptance in the feminization of males.
What the heck is the world coming to?
I fully appreciate guys don't have to be knuckle dragging troglodytes and act like tough guys to be considered manly.
But, makeup, facials, nail treatment, lingerie for male, say what???

Re: Males Are Now Wearing Makeup
I dated a pro makeup artist for a while. Let's just say I can handle concealer, but the other stuff she practiced on me with ain't happening again unless it's a really good Halloween party or it's good enough to get me in the women's locker room.Abraham wrote:Overall, it sounds like most here think males wearing makeup not a bad idea.
Re: Males Are Now Wearing Makeup
I thought the guys wearing ear rings in the 80's was odd. Make up is a bit further out than that IMO. They got to make their own decisions though.

Re: Males Are Now Wearing Makeup
I view shaving in the same light as makeup. I have no desire to look like a women or a child. But if shaving floats your boat go for it.
I could bet the guys running around with make up find the fact you more then likly carry a gun were ever you go just as repulsive.
Do you care what they think?

I've never had a desire to wear makeup, but even if I did, there's not enough makeup on the continent to make this mug "pretty".

WWJD?
I mean really? Repulsive? I get where you don't want it done to you but getting so worked up over something that has absolutely zero to do with you. To such a point that you disparage their manhood without knowing a thing about them? Do you think that a person would become less of a provider for their family? That it would somehow make someone less willing to protect their family? Become abusive? Less kind? What exactly makes a man that disappears because they put on makeup?
What about Men that use the exact same products for medical conditions? It would be for the same reason just a difference in severity.
Girly man?
This is absurd I'm done.

Priceless!!
Admit it, you'd argue with a wall if you didn't have me or someone else to bicker with.
Please, keep it up.

See this has nothing to do with our topic. Who is trying to bait who here? So I didn't want to continue reading such hateful posts and figured I should stop. That you find it funny? Well so be it. That posting against hate is "Loopy" as I said WWJD.
