Reports say that the district is giving all of the schools a good cleaning. If this is transmitted by contact then why are they cleaning the schools?? The children are asymptomatic.

This guy was asymptomatic on the plane. Are they cleaning the planr=e> Isolating the flight crew?

Potential Ebola case in Hawaii. Patient in isolation at hospital. Apparently the hospital is taking the action because of a fever and travel to West Africa. They don't know if its Ebola, they just isolate anyone who has a fever and has visited West Africa recently. Seems a better tact than the hospital in Dallas who sent the patient home the first time and the second time didn't do anything different, until a friend of the patient called the CDC and TDH.

What I love is the patient in Dallas was with a dieing Ebola patient days before he decided to come to America for a visit. Maybe he realized that he was going to get it and decided he didn't want to die and his only hope was coming here. To me if that is the case you don't hang around with children and when you go to the hospital you declare that you have Ebola, not that you just came from West Africa. Or you say I was in West Africa four days ago and a dieing woman vomited on me when we took her by taxi to a hospital who couldn't take her cause they were already full of dieing Ebola patients.

NBC Cameraman diagnosed with Ebola heading back to the US. Naturally while he was videotaping for NBC in Liberia, he decided on his own, to handle bodily fluids of sick Ebola patients. Everyone believes that, correct.

One of my employees is going to Dallas next week. Another employee has their parents coming down to visit from Dallas next week. A mother of another employee is worried about her daughters safety. I'm thinking, if the friends of the guy that got sick come down with it, we are in trouble.

At a Target today in Houston, I saw a woman wearing a protective mask over her face.

I am still not convinced of what we are being told about how this disease is transmitted.

This disease is transmitted through fluid contact. This means sweat, mucus, saliva, tears, urine, vomit, blood, etc... Anything "wet" that comes from an infected individual.

Sneezing and coughing are notorious culprits here since they spray potentially infectious fluid in an aerosol fashion.

Handshaking and incidental contact can pass sweat/fluids between individuals. As you may be aware, people in general touch their face a LOT, which then transmits the incidentally-contacted infectious fluids directly to the absorptive membranes of the body. Similarly, things handled by infected individuals can become infectious themselves -- clothing, briefcases, etc.

Wearing an "over the face and mouth" paper mask is only a minor hindrance if someone sneezes in your face -- your eyes would potentially be the entry point for an inoculating dose of the virus.

I think the "experts" keep stressing that it's not airborne in order to keep panic down. However, I think it's easier spread than what they are letting on just as Dr. Dow says. I'm sure it's difficult to balance the management of fear with properly informing the public.

I've often seen people in Asian countries walking around with paper mouth and nose masks. I wonder when that will start here.

In this instance, if the people who are just becoming symptomatic are the ones wearing the face masks, then they are protecting others from the "airborne spray" of infectious material that they are projecting when they cough or sneeze.

Unfortunately there are MANY diseases that begin with the symptoms that Ebola-infected patients suffer from. Influenza and common colds being part of the mix here doesn't help people who would normally say "its nothing". Personally I wonder why they're still allowing commercial/consumer flights in and out of these areas...

ETA: Now that I think about it, this guy's been pooping in the regular sewer system for a while too; are wastewater plant employees using PPE sufficient for that, is the sewer system itself properly isolated for it, and is the treatment process sufficient to render Ebola safe to discharge?
